1/ “Forgiving student debt is fundamentally unfair to those who played by the rules and paid back their loans.”

"Fundamentally unfair":

- Curing cancer is not unfair to those who died from cancer. No one should have ever had cancer.
2/ - Ending slavery is not unfair to those who were enslaved. No one should have ever been a slave to begin with.
- Canceling college debt and providing free education is not unfair to those who had to pay for school and were burdened by school debt.
3/ No one should have been burdened with that debt to begin with. No one should have had to spend a decade paying off their loans instead of DOING WHAT THEY EDUCATED TO DO.

You shouldn’t have had to pay for wanting to be better.
4/ You should have graduated and immediately been productive in the field that you chose.

"Forgive":

No. Wanting an education is not something to be forgiven. We’re *canceling* debt they should never have been burdened with in the first place.
5/ If we limit ourselves to "let’s educate as many as we can" or "provide healthcare for as many as we can," then we must choose for some to not be educated and some to not have healthcare. Who doesn’t get it? Who does? Who makes these terrible decisions?
6/ What about climate change? Who do we save? Who do we let die?

The only moral choice is to educate all, provide healthcare to all, and save everyone from the climate collapse. There is no moral alternative.
7/ To the person who said the quote at the top of this thread: I’m sorry you were burdened in this way. Please don’t make others suffer because you did. Do you want future generations to be better or do you want revenge?
8/8 Education, healthcare, A JOB, and life are basic human rights, not privileges. Because we are human beings. Because we exist.

(Thanks to @FadhelKaboub for the idea of cancel versus forgive. Thanks to @rohangrey for the idea of must strive to educate all.)
