Mutahi Ngunyi popularized the idea of "tyranny of numbers" and gave it an aura of credibility. The idea was used by Cambridge Analytica, Bob Godec and Jubilee Party to create a sense of defeat even before the vote, and has boosted the arrogance of uthamakistan as unbeatable.
Tyranny of numbers was a lie. It still is a lie. The Kikuyu are not enough to even be a swing vote. Even if they were to vote to a man (women are bonga points) for the same candidate, which is impossible, they cannot decide a vote on their own. But Mutahi legitimized a lie.
"Tyranny of numbers" is a curse which has so engulfed the Kenyan political imagination, that politicians spend every 5 damn years circling around Mount Kenya hoping to be the chosen partner by election time, instead of discussing governance and the social issues that affect us.
So whatever Mutahi says, no matter how logical it sounds, he is doing the same work he did in 2013: keeping Kenyans obsessed with this grand prize called the Kikuyu vote and giving this obsession an air of academic respectability.
It's amazing that Ann Kiguta offered Mutahi a platform for his simplistic and tantalizing reasoning when she couldn't deal with the complex reality when David Ndii explained it 3 years ago. She got visibly upset because it became clear she hadn't read the documents.
There are two truths about uthamakistan for which the media, the church and the wealthy will do anything they can to prevent Kenyans from seeing.

The second truth is that uthamakistan is on crutches. Thanks to Muigai himself. Muigai sold a political contraption he has destroyed, and Raila gave up a viable political force for a contraption which can no longer hide that it's fake.
If media are going back to Mutahi, it's because the political elite need to keep the lie of uthamakistan alive. That's Mutahi's expertise: tantalizing Kenyans with tasty gossip about uthamakistan while giving it an aura of political analysis. Yet all he's selling is a narrative.
Kenyans have to defy this manipulation by media and the 8,300 who own more than the rest of us. We must discuss wealth inequality, land ownership, tyranny of the our civil service, health care and education. All these issues are swept under the rug by the tantalizing BBI gossip.
