Tomorrow marks the 17th year since the illegal prison at Guantanamo Bay was opened. You might hear a lot about Guantanamo today, but you will not hear much about the military commissions. Let me fix that. 1/
The military commissions have now been pushed by three successive administrations to try to prosecute the men the USG believes to be responsible for 9.11. They are one of the most bipartisan atrocities in US history. 2/
The men being tried before milcomms - such as my client, @BaluchiGitmo, were all brutally tortured by the @CIA for years at the black sites (secret prisons). The @CIA thought detainees would never see the light of day. 3/

The racism of Liu Jiaqi represents the most lethal idea in human history: racial categories and hierarchies. It has led to mass murder, genocide, has been used to justify and spread slavery, and it was at the root of the colonial brutality and thievery here.
It feeds violent extremism & terrorism which at their core are an insistence that people should not be judged as individuals but as members of groups with "qualities" that are rooted in their skins, and genes. Thank you @FredMatiangi and @GKihalangwa for making it clear that
Racism has no place in Kenya. I hope that all Kenyans redouble their commitment to not only being angry at the Liu Jiaqi's among us, but by rejecting, once and for all, the poison of tribal discrimination and stereotyping that was born from the same mother as his racism

Lord Meghnad Desai, the British Labour Peer in the House of Lords, wrote in his 2017 book - “Politicshock” that 2016 will go down as the year that marked the collapse of the “liberal world order”.
He added -

But what was Meghnad talking about? What is this “liberal world order”? It is one of those nice sounding words of modernity that everyone wants to appropriate, but few offer a precise definition.
