The poll was conducted in partnership with EpiAFRIC to determine trends and seek the perceptions of Nigerians regarding the awareness, mode of transmission, symptoms, and awareness on possible preventive measures for #Lassafever

As at this morning, there are 775 confirmed cases of #Lassafever reported in Nigeria in 2020 alone.

There's a need for all stakeholders to synergize to stop the spread of the virus.

Radio is still high, but awareness via other traditional media channels is dropping."

There's a need for the @NCDCgov, @Fmohnigeria, development organization and other relevant stakeholders to come together and explore strategies that will address health behavioral concerns.

Every action plan to increase awareness has financial implications, the different key stakeholders have to come together to use their channels to increase the awareness to the most affected areas in order to curb the spread at the least costs.

The @NCDCgov should work with religious and traditional leaders in creating awareness on preventing measures of Lassa fever as past polls have shown that Nigerians trust information coming from these group of public leaders.

There's also a need for the government to standardized agricultural practices and educate farmers or modern farming techniques.

"IF 10 million people carry #Lassafever and are not willing to go to the hospital, that's a pandemic and these 10million "poor people" could be the ones who come in contact with the elite in their daily jobs thereby putting everyone at risk.

The large and growing demand for rat meat in some communities has also contributed to the spread of the Lassa fever virus.

The government should explore ways that will discourage sales of rat until the Lassa fever scourge is over.
