#Manus thread: 1 Attack on refugees happening at this moment in their accommodation at Vaivai Street, East Boroko, Four Mile. Drunken locals are trying to get into the accommodation. They have hit the security guards. JDA Emergency case worker was contacted over 40 minutes ago
2 but they told the refugees to, 'Just wait'. Local security guards are trying to talk to the attackers now. Security guards are really only there to man the gates. They have called the police now. Everybody is scared. If anyone can help the guys, now is the time to act.

5 One person from Immigration came & tried to talk to those people. Nobody listened to him. So he went back. He said he can't do anything. He said, 'Wait for the police'.

10 The local men still hanging around near our accommodation and still there's no police coming. If anything happens and we get injured and die will there be anyone responsible?
There's no police responding quickly. Only one immigration officer came. He can't help us.

Security guards are trying their best to help us. They came and talked with us. These men who guard the gate are good men. They are worried & scared and very brave. They need police back up. These two men cannot do anything alone.
11 The local men have knives & big stones. They are at the gate shouting to the men paid to mind the gate, 'Open the gate. Open the gate. We need to kill these people. We need to finish these people'.
12 We contacted JDA boss & every person called their JDA case worker. Still no police came. Still no JDA. Only 1 immigration officer came & he left 35 minutes ago. We don't know what will happen. Maybe anytime they are going to attack us. All my friends are so scared right now.
