One excuse was cos students can study Reason & Philosophy, Religion & Ethics, Study of Religion. But these are only yr 11/12 subjects, so not even part of compulsory schooling.

We asked the .@QLDEducation how many schools offered those 3 subjects & how many students did them.

THEY DIDN'T KNOW!

So, we asked the Qld Curriculum & Assessment Authority

But 1st, let's look at these subjects.

Reason & Philosophy doesn't look at dif worldviews, so it is actually irrelevant 2 our issue - why did the Ed Minister mention it then?

Religion & Ethics has an *elective* called Religions of the World but it's the schools NOT the student who decides if that particular elective will form part of their subject offering.

Study of Religions looks at the 5 major world religions of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism.

This is closer to what we're suggesting but ignores non-religious worldviews, a blinding omission given 52% of Gen Z surveyed said they identified with NO religion

Now, what were those participating school numbers?

Philosophy & Reason - a mere 14 schools in all of Qld

Religion & Ethics - just 4 schools in all of Qld

Study of Religion - ONLY TWO SCHOOLS IN ALL OF QLD

And how many students were studying Study of Religion last year?

Two...

And this counts as a reason not 2 reconsider RI 4 a more inclusive approach to religion in public schools .@gracextwo ?
