3. Humans shed the virus even before they have subjective symptoms and this period can last several days.
4. Most people who have symptoms have fever and dry cough.
5. Even with a good test, some people have tested falsely negative on first test
6. My fellow Americans are culturally and politically focused less on medical science than on psychological projection in an attempt to avoid fear
7. Each country is reacting differently and this gives us actual data on what non-pharmacological effects are effective.
8. The US is behind on testing and should be testing as much per capita as S Korea if we want their low CFR as an outcome.
9. The virus can be modeled with math. That's it, just math.
10. People can be modeled by understanding the mammalian midbrain. They won't stay home when sick if they need to work to eat. They won't keep sick children home if they need to go to work. Period.
11. Lombardy went from 1 ICU case and "plenty of capacity" to "our medical system is about to be overwhelmed" is 5 days.
12. I see more hubris and lack of understanding of nature from US leaders than I expected. It's like the Chinese first response but without the
12 cont. realization that China had.
So, I conclude:
1. The US is behind and not learning from the experience of others.
2.We will have a higher CFR than S Korea. We will have Wuhan like experiences in some of our cities before we wake up.
3. Local and state officials
3 cont. need to start making their own plans for widespread rapid testing and stop relying on CDC or any Federal agency.
4. Current Federal focus is on leveraged industry and their need to keep up cash flow rather than on individuals and their need to keep up cash flow.
5. It didn't have to be this way.
6. Help your community. Help your family. Help yourself.
