Here are the latest updates on COVID-19 in New York City:

We can confirm there are 16 new COVID-19 cases as of March 10th, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in New York City to 36.
As we enter the community spread stage of COVID-19, we're asking New Yorkers to make more adjustments to daily life. Keep using the common sense tactics — wash your hands frequently with soap and water, avoid touching your face, monitor your health and if you feel sick STAY HOME. A graphic on coronavirus. New Yorkers should take steps like washing hands often with soap, covering your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing, not touching your face, not shaking hands, staying home and calling your doctor if you're sick with coughing, sneezing, fever, shortness of breath and sore throat and don't improve within 24 to 48 hours. Call 311 if you need medical medical care, we will provide it.A graphic on coronavirus. New Yorkers should take steps like avoid gatherings and events if you have lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, cancer or weakened immune system, do not visit people with those conditions if you're sick, consider tele-commuting, stagger work hours, walk or bike to work if possible, wait for a less crowded train or bus if possible.
To be blunt: it's NOT the time to take a cruise.

Anyone leaving our city by ship will be screened before boarding.

Anyone with a temperature over 100.4 will not be allowed to board.
Anyone returning from a cruise with a fever will be sent home and asked to contact their doctor immediately or sent to the hospital.
Outreach teams are continuing to check in with our city's homeless population.

So far there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 but our teams are in continual contact with homeless New Yorkers and are prepared to help them come in if they experience any symptoms.
Our blood supply is currently very good but we're hearing reports of blood drives cancelled over COVID-19.

I want to be clear here: there is NO health risk in giving blood during this crisis.

Follow @NYBloodCenter or @RedCrossNY to find a blood drive near you.
New Yorkers are resilient people and I remain so proud of them for taking this crisis seriously. Things are moving quickly but this city is meeting the moment.

Please continue to monitor nyc.gov/coronavirus and text COVID to 692-692 for real time updates from @NotifyNYC. An image of a cell phone with the text
