Just thinking about something the great Bob Moses once told me. Elections, whether you win them or lose them, can demobilize a movement, because the organizing energy is directed to achieving that outcome. Once the election is over people have to figure out what to do. 1/
In some ways, we saw that with President Obama's election in 2008. So much of grassroots energy was directed towards achieving that historic outcome that some folks were a bit lost after he won and started to govern. 2/
For Sanders supporters, even as they rightfully wait for the debate on Sunday and remain committed to the campaign, they have to ask themselves what is most important: the man or the transformative agenda? 3/
If it is the latter, than work has to be done on two fronts simultaneously--getting Donald Trump out of office and the relentless pursuit of a transformative agenda on behalf of a new America. Making that agenda a reality will require work well beyond this presidential cycle. 4/
