1) * This will all come to pass with the consent and either approval or indifference of the conservative base, which is growing, not shrinking;
* We called that the impeachment was strategically wrong and we were right;
* It's time to regroup and redesign strategy
2) The USA is not special, not a snowflake, not better, not worse, not exception: it exists in a global context. On average, it's a bit more conservative than other democratic countries. This is not an advantage.

3) The masses (they are called masses for a reason) are leaning right and backing off from democracy. Wake up and for god's sake, don't push tactics that depend on strong base support (like impeachment! It was dumb!).
4) The focus now is to focus on initiatives that will optimize our chances of winning back the USA for democracy ( = no Republican presidency or majority): increasing voting turnout; combating vote suppression by ensuring vulnerable populations are equipped to vote;
5) staring now, checking for vulnerable populations needs such as documentation, registration and means of transportation;
6) Turn down grandiose plans such as impeaching trump again or demonstrating against the impeachment farse: the masses did NOT understand what happened. MOVE ON. WE LOST => assimilating defeat is part of the game.
7) In politics, it's a great part of designing a good strategy, whether to win, if winning is still possible, or to survive a long period of authoritarian rule.
8) I grew up and fought a far right military dictatorship. Many didn't survive. It lasted 21 years. The groups that jumped the gun, thought they would have mass insurgence and went for urban guerrilla tactic were decimated.
9) Leaders were hunted like animals, tortured and murdered. Those who assumed there would be insurgence among the rural workers met exactly the same fate: they were decimated.
10) I witnessed (and participated in!) the surreal debate among the couple of dozens of us about whether Brazil has reached the revolutionary stage or the pre-revolutionary stage. It was obviously neither. Guess what happened.
11) Is it possible that we lose the presidential elections here? Hell, yeah! So nothing else matters than improving our chances of that NOT happening. Look around. Look at numbers. If you can't interpret a chart, ask me (or any quantitatively trained analyst).
12) There are two sides in this new Cold War: Fascism X anti-fascism. It happens everywhere. Regardless of your country, your neighbor may be one or the other. It's time to be very careful and act decisively according to context.
