In Virginia, we've taken steps to prepare for and protect Virginians from #COVID19—and we will continue to execute our plans across all levels of government.

Here's what we are doing:
✅ We’ve expanded our criteria for diagnostic testing to ensure that anyone who has symptoms and is in a nursing home is a top priority.

✅ We’ve also provided guidance to nursing homes and senior care facilities on additional visitor screening.
We've directed all school districts to update their pandemic plans in consultation with their local health departments.

And we will continue working in close coordination with college and university presidents to provide guidance and address their individual situations.
Together with @VaMedicaidDir, @VDSS, and local partners, we're working to ensure no Virginian goes hungry in the event of extended school closures or isolation due to #COVID19, and our most vulnerable populations have continued access to critical services.
We're committed to addressing possible barriers to care:

✅ We're working with Virginia insurers to waive costs associated with #COVID19 diagnostic testing.

✅ We're talking with employers across the Commonwealth about telework and paid time off, including for hourly workers.
.@VirginiaDHRM has directed all state agencies to update their emergency operations and paid leave policies.

Virginia is setting an example by activating public health emergency leave for state employees who have recently traveled to high-risk areas.
I've been working closely with the General Assembly to ensure Virginia has adequate funding in our final budget to prepare for and respond to #COVID19. This additional funding is included in the budget that legislators will vote on tomorrow.
Across our transportation network—which includes airports, Metro, buses, and rail—@VaDOT will adjust cleaning schedules according to @CDCgov protocol. And we're ensuring our transportation workforce has the training they need to help reduce the potential spread of disease.
I am confident that our Commonwealth has made the appropriate plans and done the necessary preparations to adapt as this situation evolves.
