warren got to find out how little campaigning on "unity" will get you when the DNC has much more right wing candidates to still support, there's no way she's as willing to publicly oppose the machine as bernie is even if they shank her over and over again

if i'm shutting down my natural skepticism again, my takeaway is that she's deeply overconfident of her own ability to win over the machine publicly and that the way she bruises them from the inside - opposing obama, throwing out larry summers - doesn't create leftover grudges

response to her efforts to influence HRC in 2016 feel like this, seemingly still giving dems benefit of the doubt that they're going to work with her even after clinton picked fucking tim "who?" kaine for a VP slot over her, and moderate elected dems not supporting her now

same way she trusts capitalism, she trusts that the DNC still, ultimately, will want to work with her, and i don't think she's truly quite grasped, even years later, what kind of influences on the inside absolutely hold a grudge against her for what happened during obama's terms

people rag on bernie for being mean to the establishment (and tbh, he's extremely mild in the tenor of his criticisms, never gets personal, focuses on just policy first and foremost) but he knows full well public gladhanding won't get him jack because of his ideology, period

people talk about "coalitions" but i talk about "leverage". the DNC was 'nicer' to warren than they are to bernie, but keep in mind, not publicly bashing her doesn't mean they supported her. and they pretended she didn't exist during the Unity branding phase.

bernie knows the only way dems work with him is if he can hold a viable threat against their job security. warren seems to act like what happened with the CFPB and opposing obama and larry summers is all just water under the bridge now, when it very much isn't.

anyway, i talk a lot about this stuff because i'm not here to win warren supporters over to sanders with a lot of pleading and all that. it comes off disingenuous, desperate and rarely leaves either party happy.

i'm more interested in redirecting whatever anger they might have.

for warren ppl, if you feel still good and angry about sanders, i'd ask that you consider redirecting that anger to the dem establishment, who your candidate did exactly what they said sanders should do - be conciliatory, be friendly, unite - and they walked all over her for it.

you can dislike sanders any which way, but your real enemy here is not the guy fighting the machine alone, but the machine itself.

the important thing to remember is this: the dem establishment still considered warren far too opposed to their interests to work with.

and you'll be able to watch - warren can try to make more efforts on influence as time goes on.

they'll keep shanking her. partially because they're petty (see: CFPB, summers, obama), but mostly because, again, even moderating? she's still too anti-corp for their tastes.

the machine might be more subtle, might be more 'polite' in the way they punish those opposed to them, might not as publicly bash someone as warren, but make no mistake, anyone who's even slightly serious about taking on established power will get the hammer brought down.

tulsi's got some fucking weird ass political beliefs and is entirely too chill with fascists like modi, but let's be real, that's not why she's on the outs with establishment dems, who love themselves some fascists, at home and abroad.
