THREAD: Crises like #COVID19 shed light on how unsustainable polarized politics is. We’re seeing Congressional members revert to old habits w/ the most recent relief proposals. Ds and Rs developing separate relief packages=proposals dead on arrival & valuable time wasted. (1/5)
Eventually D and R Congressional leaders/Administration will be forced to compromise, but the result will be watered down, yielding a patch-work solution. (2/5)
America needs national leaders with an ability to unify the public, especially in times of crises. (3/5)
If we don’t change how we govern, there will be future crises like this, each revealing the ongoing erosion of the fed's ability to function & improve preparedness. Millennials already have record low trust in institutions. Current gov't response reinforces that distrust. (4/5)
The current approach defies the logic of anyone who has worked on a diverse team. To build buy-in from both sides, fed leaders should be co-creating solutions together from the beginning. We need change. That's why my faith is in @mactionproject's mission. (5/5)
