I have beef with @darrengrimes_ and here’s why. I live and work in the region he comes from. I’ve educated some of its children. My dad’s family is from the most deprived part of Newcastle. My dad, sadly, is a racist sexist pig. My Mum also had a working class upbringing as the
eldest of 8 kids but is the most open-minded, outward looking woman I know. She made sure my siblings and I turned out the same. Grimes wields his working class upbringing as a shield against legitimate criticism of his sycophantic worship of the alt-right. Any criticism of his
ill-thought-out, often entirely fabricated pronouncements is met with an instant cry of “You’re looking down on me because I’m a working class northerner who didn’t go to uni”. No, Darren, we are countering your untruths and unmasking you as a grifter and a fascist enabler.
You’re not a victim, Grimes. You were a pro-Remain Liberal Democrat until you felt your squeals weren’t being heeded in those circles so switched to full-blown Farage worship and morphed into a Brexshiteer with nothing to add to the conversation. But you’re wrong when you claim
people are critical of you because of your background. They’re critical of you because you choose to be stupid. You choose to be a mascot to Johnson and Farage and that’s stupid. Working class people, like anyone else, can and do educate themselves out of being stupid.
