Officers have encircled the Extinction Rebellion sailboat blockade. The DJ kept mixing house music until cops unplugged their mixer just after we filmed this clip.

Protesters not locked down to the sailboat have been dragged away, apparently without being arrested.

Police now preparing to cut remaining activists out of lock boxes using power tools.

A tow truck has arrived to remove the Extinction Rebellion sailboat blockade.

However, police haven’t yet cut through any of the lockboxes attaching protesters to the boat’s undercarriage.

Police have removed two of the protesters locked down to th Extinction Rebellion sailboat blockade.

They are still working on a second lockdown group attached to the boat.

Many PDs send “cut teams” to train w FEMA to practice cutting ppl out of these devices.
Police appear to have just released Extinction Rebellion protesters after cutting them out of the lockboxes on the sailboat.

16th & K has been shut down for a while now here in northwest DC.

#ShutDownDC #ClimateChange protesters claim to have blockaded 22 different locations.
Police are still working to cut out the last pair of #ShutDownDC #ClimateChange protesters locked down to the Extinction Rebellion sailboat.

Presumably the boat will be towed away once the locked down protesters are removed.

#ShutDownDC #ClimateChange protest has mostly dispersed after ending at Farragut Square.

A small but lively group of young protesters has still been keeping this intersection (17th & K) closed to traffic by holding space.

Some reportedly plan to hold more actions later today.
Intersection of 17th and K was slowly opened back up to traffic a few minutes ago. The last blockaders of the morning left the intersection but hinted they might hit the streets again in coming hours.

Today at #ShutDownDC we saw police use trained “cut teams” to extract protesters from lockbox devices.

We got ahold of FEMA’s ‘Field Force’ training module used to train cops across the USA in protest policing, including “cut team” tactics.
