Got your kids at home for a few weeks due to the #CoronavirusPandemic ? Well, as a #homeschooling mom, I would love to offer a few tips that have helped me over the years.
(1) You don’t have to stand over your child and teach them 8 hours a day. An average school day is mostly filled with getting kids to and from classes, lunch, taking attendance, and other administrative things. Kids are not getting 8 hours of solid instruction and learning.
(2) We as adults, in the corporate 9-to-5 sector, don’t do too well with 8 to 9 hours of solid work and just a one hour break. Don’t feel compelled to structure your kids days like that either for the next few weeks.
(3) there are lots of online learning apps that make learning fun: Time4Learning, ReadingEggs, ABC Mouse, and Khan Academy to name a few. There are even free educational playlist YouTube on several topics.
(4) Want some worksheets for your child? Create an account at education.com And you’ll instantly have access to worksheets on every topic for every grade.
(5) I also think this is the time to check in with your child emotionally. Children go through so many things in traditional brick and mortar schools, and you won’t find out about what they went through until years later when they feel comfortable telling you.
(6) Find out if your child has been a victim of bullying or cyber bullying. See how they are getting along with their teachers. Take the time to get to know what an average day for them is like in school. This may be the time to do a lot of intensive work on their confidence.
(7) This may also be a great time to help your child start a business with their hobby. ❤️
(8) if you are an entrepreneur like myself, and you have your kids at home, this is the time to look at your business, and automate as many parts of it as possible. This is also the time to make your services scalable. What do I mean by that?
(9) what part of your business can technology take care of? Such as the automatic sending of invoicing, proposals, automatic email responses, and contracts? #VirtualWork
(10) and Especially if you are a service-based business, To spend more time with your kids, you will want to move away from doing mostly 1-on-1 client work. It’s time to think about launching digital products, coaching programs, courses and memberships.
(11) This will allow you to help more people, scale your income dramatically, AND spend more time with your kids. This is how you can make #Homeschooling and #Entrepreneurship work.
(12) this is a time where you can reset, redesign your life, and map out a new plan for yourself and your family. #parentTwitter #HomeSchooling #OnlineLearning #WorkingFromHome #Entrepreneurship ❤️
