#Masaya volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua. With a very active past, there is now a lava lake in the Santiago crater.

The active #Masaya crater formed in 1858-59. It's now the site of vigorous degassing incl. SO2 (sulfur dioxide) & the ~1000°C lava lake. You can see older lava flows in the crater wall.

There is a very thick gas plume rising from the #Masaya lava lake. This high SO2 content can be hazardous for breathing and for eyes.

After undergoing a volcanic earthquake swarm over the period Sept-Oct 2017, finally on 21 November 2017 at 17:05 WITA the phase of eruption of Mount Agung evolved to produce volcanic ash as high as 700 m above the peak.
2/n After the eruption, the next eruption occurred again on November 25, 2017 at 17:20 WITA with an ash plume height of 1500 m above the peak. On 26 and 27 November 2017 eruptions occurred with the ash column height reaching 3000 m above the peak.

Incandescence from lava is visible in the crater at night. Tremor is continuous. Alert level remains at IV, the highest level.
PVMBG continues to record increasing volcanic activity. The potential for a larger eruption is increasing.
However, the intensity and timing cannot be predicted with certainty. Estimating the future character of the eruption of Agung tends to be more difficult than other volcanoes due to the absence of instrumental data from previous eruptions for comparison.

Twitter seems to be banning or suspending accounts belonging to critics of the Chinese government. It started yesterday May 31th. Here is one report - I noticed a sudden loss of followers yesterday, I checked, it was mainly China critics. Twitter❤️🇨🇳 Amazing! @mouse @1GigiSims
This is happening as an effort to silence #China critics ahead of the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, which is next Tuesday. Twitter is helping China do its dirty work to silence the legitimate opposition. Twitter has hit a new all time low! 👎👎👎
One other possibility that can't be discounted is that the #Chinese government is hacking into Twitter and is deleting the accounts of Chinese critics. I did hear reports in the past, that Chinese hackers were able to get into Twitter & do that.
