So, because of DS's cystic fibrosis, the handwashing and Purelling of the public is our "norm" all the time. We normally go through boat loads of paper towels as a result, and I typically buy 3 - 4 12-packets every couple of weeks. DH was getting our groceries & stuff we're 1/
2/ running low on this a.m. and picked up 2 (less than our norm), and as he walked by one cop said to a second, we'll need to start limiting those to one. I'm thinking of copying our weekly grocery receipts so show we aren't hording. We go through more b/c we have to
3/3 wash hands more b/c we have to wash, sterlize, assemble medical equipment, and dispense lots of drugs every day. END

As with SpyGate, I began by thinking it was a NothingBurger and Trump was just being Trump, but once I read @DevinNunes memo, I realized the hoax was real and wide-spread. That was my initial reaction too to @realDonaldTrump saying press was pushing coronavirus hoaxes. 1/
2/ Of course the first hoax the press pushed was that Trump said the coronavirus was a hoax. But I still put it down as a shurg. It's a serious crisis and media wouldn't push bad narratives now. WRONG. AGAIN. This time discovery came as researching the question of testing.
3/ The number of false narratives and outright lies is nearly in the double-digits already. And I could write just on that for an entire week. More coming soon. As I've said on Twitter before, I often wondered how Dems and MSM would have handled 9/11 if Trump was President.

My mom was born in 1929 and lived through the depression. Brother killed in WW2. Had kids from England in school to escape. I asked her after 9/11 whether she was more worried as a child or at 9/11 time. She said "now." Paused and said, because I worry that young people 1/
2/ won't be able to cope. War is hard. People die. Little did she know that staying in your damn house would be too hard for some!

I find reading scientific articles hard. It's not a particularly efficient way for me to learn. I prefer conference presentations, with gesticulation and animations and lots of colour. I know people who have the opposite preferences, and that's OK.
But I’m a PhD student, and reading papers is unavoidable.
I've been reading a paper this last couple of days and realised that in my years as a PhD student I've learnt of a few tools/techniques that make my reading far more time-efficient. I thought I'd share some of them here.
Here's the paper I'm reading: doi.org/10.1016/0042-6… for demonstration. Since I’m presenting this as a live(ish) demo, there are going to be some dead ends (things I try that don’t work), but that’s fine because that’s life.
