At recent rates of increase, I guesstimate that we will reach 120k tests/day in somewhere between 4 and 16 days (depending on if we increase linearly or exponentially). That time difference makes a big difference. Only once we get sufficient capacity can we do Test-and-Trace.
Remember, without Test-and-Trace, all that testing does is confirm that people with coronavirus symptoms have coronavirus!
Test-and-Trace is about testing people BEFORE they have symptoms, based on CONTACT with people who have the disease, so they can isolate themselves!
