I'm reading promising early studies of new treatments. That's wonderful š„³
Let's imagine that next week we find a treatment that works.
Then what?
There are a few questions to ask ourselves before releasing the lockdown & party.
(thread, 1/5)
Treatments must be prescribed based on an individual assessment of risks of taking them vs risk of not taking them.
Strength of side effects determines which % of the population can be treated.
For example, ā¦
If side effects are mild, most cases with severe symptoms can use it.
If the side effects are non-existent, than everyone can use it.
Releasing the lockdown is bound to produce +X cases a week.
Unless we can administer at least X treatments a week, people will stockpile in hospitals.
However, we must make sure that enough people can be *practically* treated to counterbalance the growth of infected after releasing the lockdown.
Otherwise, if we release the lockdown too early, a human catastrophe will take place.
