Left Bangalore last night and just landed in Shanghai today afternoon. I am surprised by how Pudong Airport and this metro city has been running, under the #COVIDー19 challenge. Here are some of my observations:

Key words: Color card, QR code, Self-protection.
(Thread)
1/
My flight from Singapore to Shanghai is 80% Chinese passengers. It's easy to identify Chinese from other nationals because they do self-protection in the next level:

100% wear masks(so are other nationals), 10-20% wear goggles, 5% wear protective clothing, some even gloves..
2/
After landing in Shanghai, passengers took turns to get out of the plane, which took 2+ hours. India is not among the 24 serious countries so I was in second batch. Passengers came from London is the highest risk so last batch. A passenger lived with a patient was separated.
3/
Airport looked empty because every people flow was under managed and isolated. A new area was made for special extra customs check, where they asked questions and confirmed information on the health declaration form, and tested temperature. Similar to visa application process.
4/
Two impressive things in Pudong Airport:

1 There were 30 desks operating at the same time, very high efficiency and passengers don't need to wait & gather.

2 Every single staff in customs and security area was wearing protective clothing+mask+visor+medical glory+shoe cover.
5/
After all the processes, I was OK to leave. I was lucky in Shanghai; all passengers travel from foreign country to Beijing have to do isolation in dedicated hotels for 14 days before going anywhere.

Then I walked through a dedicated isolated path to taxis, going to city.
6/
I was told to get SuiShenCode, a color card showing my health status, in Alipay APP. Green means healthy.

The card is actually a health proof used by everyone in Shanghai. All restaurants and hotels asked me to show it before allowing me in.

A big data product made by Gov.

I went to a BBQ restaurant, and surprised to see it was full. I had to wait 1 hour to get my seat.

To be safe, the restaurant opened every other table, to make sure people don't sit too close.

Ordered and paid, both on #WeChat.

I booked a Didi fast ride(like UBER Prime) to hotel. The front and rear seats of the cab are separated carefully by a large plastic sheet, with 'Disinfected Today' showing on a piece of paper.

Driver told me business was 60-70% of normal time, so was the traffic on the road.

Although I was given a green card, which basically allow me to go anywhere do anything in Shanghai, I still feel there's small risk I may carry virus from the flight. So I'm going to do self-guarantine in hotel and try not to go out within the next 7 days, for others' health.
10/
And will keep posting my observations here.
11/
Just read news, Shanghai is implementing new policy from today, for people arriving from other countries:

Shanghai will implement 100% coronavirus nucleic acid testing for all visitors to Shanghai from all countries and regions, not just 24 serious countries anymore.
12/
It's a hotel in Shanghai city center. To enter hotel, must test temperature and leave name & contact. To check in, I need to scan this QR code to fill a form about health status &travel history in past 14 days.

Gym, pool, buffet, lounge all closed.
Hotel occupancy rate 25%
13/
No-touch elevator(to avoid virus spread from hands) experience in hotel:

Scaned this QR code using WeChat, a MiniApp asked me which floor I wanted to go. Elevator came to my floor after that. Stepped inside and didn't have to do anything before stepping out at target floor.

Food delivery experience in Shanghai during #COVID19

I ordered food on Meituan. A delivery person called me and left food at lobby.

A sticker on the package showed the signature & temperature check of the 3 people involved in the process of preparing & delivering my food.
15/
This morning, police and community staff from my hometown called my parents, to know my situation and where I was. Police also called me short after, asked my location, health status, and whether I plan to go back home soon. Requested me to call them before I go back.
16/
Delivery Robot in hotel:

I asked hotel staff to send something to my room, and this is how I got it..

The robot called me first, saying someone is waiting outside my room. I thought it was a hotel staff waiting outside until I opened the door and saw this.
17/
Location tracing by telecom carriers.

Moved to a new hotel today. A new step at check-in was providing my travel history.

Scaned QR code using WeChat, clicked 'Yes' to allow carrier search my location data, and it showed which countries/cities I had been in past 14 days.
