I gathered some alarming information on the rise of #COVID in Iran in this thread. I can see that it has been read by many hence increases my responsibility on what I share now.

- Law and order generally has NOT weakened yet.
- Many people NOW have taken it seriously and have stayed home if they could including my parents
- Authorities have NOW show signs of changing tactics and talk of crisis

- Severe shortage of masks, gloves and disinfectants even in hospitals and for medical staff
- Exponential growth of the disease in new areas

- Some, even in worst affected areas, go on as nothing has happened

Head of the A&E (ER) department in Sina Hospital [in central Tehran] is a confirmed case of #COVID19

While the new numbers declared to be only 30 in Qom, the epicentre, an official is saying just the new positive tests were 109. Bear in mind due to shortage of diagnosis kits, viral test is only carried out on severe cases.

Governor of Khuzestan province province in the south west of Iran addressing the public and declaring "Status Red" in Khuzestan and asking the public to stay indoors for 2 weeks.

A person seems to have collapsed in the city of Urmia in the north west of Iran. There is no confirmation on whether this is related to #COVID19 although all these collapses must be something more than a coincidence.

An alarming side today is presence of "Corona Clampdown Operation" which is carried out by anti-riot forces - their water cannon used for disinfecting streets. Some see it as a display of power to prevent riots. Here they had an accident with a civilian.

A couple of updates from the Qom quarantine I reported yesterday.
I am being told, quite the contrary, many clerics from the city of Qom have moved out or been settled by the government in other towns and cities.

One was in a hotel complex in the southern town of Mahshahr where I myself have stayed before. Reports indicate locals have protested and fearful for the spread of the virus in their towns.
Reports from other towns seem to indicate locals on identifying Qom number plate engage in quarrels with the car passengers. In some cases it has been with clerics.
Speaking to a friend working as a Surgeon in Karaj, things are really bad. Even medical staff cannot get hold of plain masks let alone N95. An Emergency Care Specialist infected in her hospital with high fever and respiratory signs not tested for Corona since O2 saturation > 93%.
