If governments/the State (as in nation) want to stay relevant, they should be saying “Everyone stay home, we will pay salaries and keep the economy afloat till it’s safe again to be out.”

That’s if the “economy” is for everyone.

There is plenty of food: no one should be hungry

There is plenty of money: no one should be poor

When Trump & billionaires talk about the “economy”: they mean their money. Fuck them.

Who are the people we need the most right now?

e.g. Grocery store workers, delivery people, others whose work is called “menial” - “unskilled” and undervalued.

This is a time to reassess what “value” “wealth” and “work” mean and whose benefits they serve.
If the worst pandemic in modern history does not force those questions, what will?

Who stocks the shelves that others hoard? Why can the latter and not the former “afford” to hoard?

Whose lives are “worth” saving and for what purpose?
