People talking about the price tag for this bill. It's big no doubt but think on this. The US GDP last year was 21.4 Trillion. That's about $900 million every 2 weeks or about $2 trillion every 5 weeks. Hence the price tag but it's not designed to cover all economic activity.
Because while a large section of the economy is shutdown, a lot of it is still functioning. So it would appear that this bill is designed to cover up to 5 weeks of total shutdown or 2-3 months of partial shutdown. You can't really make up for all the missed economic activity
...this way but it will soften the blow for now but cause headwinds in the future when the bill comes do. When looked at it in comparison to the normal economic output, it doesn't appear to be "too big". It might be too small tbh. This country wasn't built to be shutdown.
It's not a centrally planned economy. While Congress may be able to stop the worst of it, if we don't get back to work soon, this bill will be seen as nothing more than a finger in the dike unable to hold back the flood. Trump is 100% right in us needing to get back to work ASAP.
