Back when I lived in the UAE, I had very serious asthma. It almost killed me, twice. I know how it feels to be drowning in your own body. It's a horrible way to go. Many are going through that right now and many more will, many of them away from their family.
And the thing is, there is no super advanced expensive medical device that can save you if only you had enough money. Your body has to respond. Your wealth can guarantee you better access to life-saving medical help, but that cannot guarantee your survival.
Thankfully my asthma is under control and I'm in better physical shape than I've been in the last 10 years. But I fear the worst for the MENA, a region of nearly 700 million people and piss-poor governance by regimes built to suppress, not to save lives.
