The deal that Kushner negotiated a deal to buy $1.5 Billion ventilators priced at 18k a piece, asusming a production run of 83,000 units.
That's a 360% premium on top of the usual market price. That in itself is a scandal.

Then it was reduced to 5,000 units since car manufacturers cannot quickly produce a ventilator.

The deal also included a contract for Tesla. Musk made a lot of noise that he was going to build ventilators as well.
In the end he decided to buy them from China instead.

And it seems the profiteering is not reserved to the US. Recall the UK officially decided against joining the EU plan to purchase ventilators.

Dyson claims he can produce a specially designed COVID-19 unit by early April. He's supposed to deliver at least 10,000 units. He's promising to deliver 15,000.

We all know that war profiteering and grifting is not a problem in America. And it's an open secret that Jared Kushner's phone has been tapped by a number of foreign intelligence agencies. So why did the deal fall through?
