I’m not poor today. But I grew up poor.

As a survival tactic, all the poor people I was exposed to, adapted to living within their means and making do with what they had access to in order to survive. They didn’t waste money to hunt down resources.
I suggest you adapt very soon.

I’m not being a smart ass. I’m giving you unsolicited advice on survival skills I used to survive my own childhood. Learned from my family who survived 100% intact from the devastation of the Great Depression in Alberta, with no govt help.
Not one of my great grandparents’ children died. There were 11 children and several of their nieces and nephews from their siblings who were placed with them while their parents worked for below subsistence wages and sent what little they could home to the farm.
Your first priorities are food and shelter. At the moment shelter is not an issue in most provinces. Mortgages can be deferred and renters can not be evicted for non-payment.

That leaves food.

Everything else is a luxury if you can’t find it.
You are speaking to the wrong person if you think I’m going to believe you need to go traipsing around from store to store looking for food.

Canned meats, frozen vegetables and dry goods, like oatmeal, legumes and flour will get you by until you receive another cash infusion.
You’ve got plenty of time and access to millions of recipes on the internet to improve the palatability of your available food choices.

I grew up eating fried balogna and fried Prem. Mustard worked to permit swallowing.

There is no reason any Canadian should go without food.
While we may not love the available food choices, we are making a conscious choice not to adapt by blaming the govt for failing to provide extra resources immediately.

Your actions to visit multiple sites to gather goods puts yourself & others at risk.
The goal is to shelter in place and remain uninfected. That’s the only weapon we citizens & govt have to fight this pandemic.

Please rethink your survival strategy. If you or others end up sick, that isn’t because the govt was unable to give you immediate access to benefits.
It’s because you expected miracles from a bureaucracy struggling, much like yourself, to adapt to a deadly pandemic.

Rule # 1: protect yourself and others by self distancing.

Rule # 2: don’t waste time and money looking for items that are currently unavailable.
Outcome: stay alive and healthy.
