Almost 3000 (2750) tons of ammonium nitrate are said to have triggered the massive detonation that shook the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday evening.
The chemical is a salt of ammonia and nitric acid. It is used both in the manufacture of fertilizers and in the production of explosives. Now it became known that the Shiite militia Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, also had access to ammonium nitrate in #Germany.
According to my own information, I can confirm that there were finds of ammonium nitrate in southern Germany. The local authorities discovered this find and destroyed it accordingly.
"The Times of Israel @TimesofIsrael" reported at the beginning of May that supporters of the radical Islamic Hezbollah were storing ammonium nitrate in warehouses in southern Germany.
According to the report, the Israeli secret service Mossad has warned the German authorities of the stocks. This is said to have happened before the German ban on Hezbollah in April.
