I don't know who needs to hear this, but providing examples of being nice or supportive to women in your own family does not make on a feminist or pro-woman nor does that make you anti-racist regarding POC or WOC or BIPOC. The "I am a good person" is at the root of much harm.
Okay, I do know who needs to hear this and this was not really a subtweet because the individuals who fit this description do not use Twitter. But there is more than one individual who may or may not need to have some deep reflection on what "I am a good person" says about ego.
This is from Australia. If in these times, as a not BIPOC, certainly as a not Black person in America, you are asking "Are you calling me a racist?!" (when that word not uttered but, yes, #implicitbias exists and racism is a #public health crisis)....

In case one needs a credible source of authority, pls reference this from @PublicHealth on #publichealth as to why we need to not ask "Are you calling me a racist?!" but "What am I doing to be anti-racist?" and "Am I complicit despite a 'good person'?"

I've notice that WOC, BIPOC women and men are hard to hear. It may have something to do with not being at the table, not presenting on the issues we do the in the trenches work on that affect the communities we are in or from and instead are lectured to:

Could so-called "angry Black woman" trope be more about not being at the table/in the room, then placed in an asking, advocacy, seeking position? If you have the microphone as a speaker, can speak with "civility." If gatekeepers keep out, how to be heard?
forbes.com/sites/janicega…
In fact, "angry" label is a form of intellectual bondage, crafts a non-factual narrative of Black women

So-called "model minority" WOC who becomes anti-racist may be called various things
but by not being Black we always have greater safety/privilege

As a kid, teachers told me to "toughen up" and "not let them bother you" regarding bullies and "don't show your emotions" then again taught to be without emotions as a clinician

But, actually, yes, anti-Blackness DOES upset me
Why doesn't it upset you?

"Hysteria" comes from the same root as uterus and is a very specific way to tie gender to "insane" as "weakness" ("Frailty thy name is woman" in Hamlet)

Mind you even the idea that "insane" is a way to invalidate someone is ableism and not okay.

A new "Opposite Day" approach to shutting down anti-racism and anti-Blackness work from/by allies who are not Black is to label them (even if not white) as "a Karen"

No, "Karen" does not utilize being white adjacent or white passing for those oppressed

The stereotype above is about perceiving oneself a victim of oppression over food order not yet ready or asked to wear a mask per policy or law. When one uses privileges afforded to those labeled "model minority" on behalf of URM, that is allyship as is taught in anti-racist work
People in authority often will not take the time to understand, will not want to get involved, will mislabel the victim as the bully thus allowing the actual bully to control the narrative. It happens in workplaces

Be wary if more narrative than facts

My advice is to ensure that anti-racism or any anti-bullying work is always done in groups
As an ally is upon you to recruit others to be fully engaged
So that when accusations fly, there is a way to validate facts
Must disrupt the wrong narrative of victimhood by the bully
Allies: Read up and have all the credible resources and citations available. Don't suddenly take a knee and create a controversy around yourself as the hero. Build a reputation of credibility on justice, fairness, consistency, being factual, being ethical. pewtrusts.org/en/research-an…
Amplify & build up those with authentic lived experience like this podcast where @fstanfordmd is talking as a highly accomplished researcher, clinician, policy maker, leader - make sure you use words that amplify #blackqueen strengths as inherent

That podcast was possible because of partnership and allyship by an anti-racist leader like @Ackermanjay who posted this on LinkedIn.

In #PROWD talk, about #HeforShe but are we doing the same level of support for #blackqueens #BlackExcellence #BLM?

It's been a rough year for everyone and this year at @MITSloanFellows is anything but typical for a mid career executive program. There are unique opportunities - am planning a virtual #hackathon at @MITSloan that includes how we make (work)spaces safe & productive for minorities
Typically, one cannot be a "listener" in @zeynepton's class that always has a wait list. This is an option, given everything is online. I am super excited to learn how to improve workplace conditions in a way that both reduces disparities & lifts all

We need more #blackqueens in #business like Prof Rosette from @DukeFuqua at 4:30 to speak to business #leaders in charge of hiring, salaries, and budgets. I'm also excited to take the class by a co-panelist at @MITSloan, Emilio Castilla of @MITSloan
