On Sunday, South Korea imposed a 24-hour standstill order on all poultry farms across the country after a series of highly pathogenic cases of bird flu.
All poultry farms and livestock production facilities, including their vehicles and employees, will be subject to a travel ban until Sunday, with disinfection work to be performed during the time, the authorities said.
It was the second time a national standstill order was given over cases of bird flu this month. A 48-hour standstill order was issued on Dec. 12. The order's violators could face up to one year in prison or a 10 million won ($9,000) fine.
South Korea reported three more cases of highly pathogenic bird flu in poultry last week, bringing the total caseload this year to 22 in the face of increasing concerns about the disease spreading across the country.

The Thuringian district of Sonneberg declares a disaster due to the pandemic. The main reason is the tense situation in several care and support facilities, the rescue service and the local hospitals,
explains District Administrator Hans-Peter Schmitz. All of this results from staff shortages that can be attributed to the corona pandemic. "After careful examination,
we decided to declare a disaster in order to continue to protect the life and health of our citizens to the best of our knowledge and belief," says Schmitz. Above all, it is a matter of creating a legal framework for the deployment of voluntary workers,
