1) Y’day I saw a patient who wanted this story told.

The 40+ yr old X was diagnosed w/ #Covid19 on 24th Dec.
X’s teenage daughter was sent home from school to isolate during the last week of term after a friend developed #Covid.
X was previously fit & well, on no medication.

2) X spent 2 weeks in January in hospital, followed by a month in bed at home.
By March X started to improve a bit but due to overwhelming symptoms of breathlessness on exertion, fatigue & “brain fog” was able to do very little.

3) X could not work & a referral to the #LongCovid clinic followed.

Over recent days X became more breathless & incapacitated which eventually resulted in hospital admission.

4) Back in early Sept, X wrote to the schools where all the children went to, to enquire about safety measures for #COVID19.

X was informed that the schools were following #DfE guidance & that SCHOOLS WERE SAFE.

5) X ENQUIRED SPECIFICALLY ABOUT MASkS FOR ALL CHILDREN IN SCHOOL.

X was informed that #DfE guidance did not advise this & that SCHOOLS WERE SAFE.

X’s children returned to school as advised.

6) Roll the story on almost 7 months & this previously fit & well parent is lying in a hospital bed again - alone, breathless & frightened.
X asked me why safety in schools wasn’t a government priority?
X told me that they feared their life would never return to normal.

7) As a dr it’s very hard to see a patient suffering like this.
As a human being it’s impossible to comprehend that the suffering of 1000s of others like my patient, was PREDICTED & AVOIDABLE.
Other parents, children, grandparents, cousins, siblings........ UNNECESSARILY HARMED.

8) The list of culprits in the #SchoolScandal is growing longer.
A cast of thousands maybe?
Some with speaking roles, others with supporting roles, encouraging & egging each other on.
Each one w/ their own selfish reasons for wanting schools to remain open without mitigations.

9) I’ll NEVER understand why/how the lives of so many British people (& their loved ones) were valued so little that they were deemed almost irrelevant.

Or that even w/ the current horrific UK death toll, #UsForThem , #Unlocked & #HartGroup types seem desperate for more.

10) I’ll struggle to forgive members of the opposition who have been complicit in their timidity & silence.

Or the MSM who have repeatedly blocked their ears & ignored the desperate pleas of parents, teachers/staff, scientists & healthcare professionals to #MakeSchoolsSafe.

11) But there is a special place *in hell* for our utterly corrupt & morally bankrupt government who’ve watched the loss of so many lives, livelihoods & the economic fallout (worsened by #Brexit) w/ barely a flicker of remorse.

THEY CARE ABOUT ABSOLUTELY NO ONE BUT THEMSELVES!

12) Consumed by feathering the nests of their families, friends & donors, stealthily removing any/every way we have to object, under the cover of #COVID19.

They have broken this country in more ways than even the most ardent “remainder” could have possibly imagined.

13) Not satisfied w/ the tally of coffins & grief so far, @UsForThem’s new goal is the removal of all mitigations within schools after Easter.
They describe themselves as a “Grass Roots” parents group, which has a “friendly” ring to it.
NOTHING could be further from the truth.

14) So to #MollyKingsley, #UsForThem & your fancy team of lawyers I say this...

“You may think you are clever, you may well be feeling smug?

15) But don’t get too comfy in your “position of influence” ....... as night follows day, our #PrimeMinister will throw you under a very big red bus when the spotlight falls on him.

16) I hope desperately that my patient is improving & will return home soon.

But for every single person like X, who’s life’s been torn in two by #COVID19, I’ll do every thing possible to hold this cabal of second rate ministers to account.

I know I am not alone!
