Today, PM @narendramodi said that India has the world’s largest #COVID19 #vaccination drive. In three months, India has vaccinated 120 mn but that is 1.3% of its popn vs 23.7% vaccinated in the US, 15.3% in the UK and 4.3% in Brazil. We put India’s vaccine numbers in context:
India has administered 109mn 1st vaccine doses & 17 mn people have been fully vaccinated. India needs to administer 10mn doses/day to reduce mortality. But India’s average vaccination rate dipped from 3.6 mn doses/day to 2.7 mn doses last week. Our report indiaspend.com/covid-19/state…
Sikkim (209/1,000) & Tripura (187/1,000) have administered the most 1st doses per 1,000 people. Bihar & Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous states, have vaccinated 6/1000 people and 7/1000 people respectively, the lowest rate 
India had targeted to vaccinate 250 million people by July 31. India is still 372 mn short of this target, and needs an average of 3.65 mn vaccinations per day until July 31. Our story: indiaspend.com/covid-19/india…

From May 1, vaccine makers would be able to supply 50% of the vaccines manufactured to the state governments and in the open market. Currently all vaccines are sold to the central government
