If @NHSEngland claimed that, NHS England LIED. (Not for the first time...)

The original @PalantirTech contract is here:

And the story behind how it was awarded is here:

If @NHSEngland & @NHSX want to talk about #transparency and proper #process, then why haven't they published the data release register for the #COVIDDataStore from which @PalantirTech and others are fed?

We've been asking for it since March 2020; we reiterated & escalated our...
..request in writing in June 2020; colleagues at @useMYdata made an identical request in October 2020:

and @NHSEngland's Chief Data & Analytics Officer told #CitizensJuries in March, April and May 2021 that she could share the #COVIDDataStore...
..."dissemination register" with them, but (to my knowledge) never did.

At this point, @NHSEngland & @NHSX's statements about the #DataStore literally CANNOT BE #TRUSTED; they've had every opportunity to publish & never have - so we've taken the extraordinary step of #FOIing...
...the #projects and #data catalogue *inside* @PalantirTech's #Foundry #DataPlatform, because we know it has a full audit trail:

Everyone is currently focused on the #GPdata grab (for which @NHSX holds the policy reins) but the body that is acting...
...beyond all reasonable limits - #ethically, #lawfully, #contractually/#procurement and #governance-wise - is @NHSEngland. (Supported, of course, by @DHSCgovuk.)

Ably assisted by not-too-well-aquainted-with-the-truth Mr #Cummings as well:

Here's a fun #NINO - the UK's National Insurance Number - [Thread] to start the weekend 👇

Maybe I should do an #NHSnumber one sometime? It's a fascinating story, which (ironically) starts with these... Image
[With thanks to @guy_herbert, @TomSamaki, @PrivacyMatters & others for encouragement!]

Before I start a geeky 'deep dive' on the #NHSnumber, to provide some (personal/professional) context that will hopefully become apparent, I'll just drop these two images here: ImageImage
So, to begin.

After the Second World War, in a time when we started to think (again) what a #civilised society would be, and when our leaders tried to agree #principles like #UDHR that might prevent the recurrence of genocide, and support #dignity and #HumanRights for all... Image

I certainly don't disagree with @AdaLovelaceInst's five messages...

...but a few points of clarification:

1) The #NationalDataOptOut, while it was (cack-handedly) introduced alongside #GDPR in May 2018, had in fact existed since #caredata - when it... Image
...was known as a #Type2 opt out - in case you were wondering about the derivation of #Type1s.

2) There was no announced date for the "expiration" of #Type1 opt-outs - certainly NOT "June 2021". There's no mention of this in the #GPDPR #DPN issued on...

...12 May 2021, and one has to wonder who suggested this to the authors. And why. (A subtle attempt to 'rewrite history'?)

3) #caredata did NOT "lead to" #Caldicott2; indeed, Dame Fiona's Review predated the scheme by months - and was instrumental in...

And in this single statement 👇 @MattHancock demonstrates not only his profound ignorance, but his underlying thinking - that information about you is a #TradableAsset.

Who "owns" the fact of your relationship with your sister? You? Her? Or your date of birth? Your current age?
Let's not even get started on things like #genomic data (i.e. data derived from your #DNA) which says things not only about you, but your relatives. Who "owns" that?

The reason the #powerful want people to think they "own" their #PersonalData - rather than it being protected...
...by a strong, well-enforced #rights framework - is that they can #force or #fool you into surrendering it, so the data you give them becomes THEIR "#property" to #exploit.

If '#DataIsTheNewOil', as they want you to believe, then what does that make YOU?

Hmm. Are you 100% certain about that, Dom? @NHSEngland's #PrivacyNotice for the #COVID19DataStore clearly states otherwise 👇

The #dashboards may(?) only show aggregate numbers, but those numbers were generated from individual-level data...
…i.e. from #PersonalData, as is also clearly stated in the #DPIA 👇

Indeed, it says the strategic dashboard "will display ... record level pseudonymised data” and (as a data expert) you will of course know that #pseudonymised data is #personal data…
...and has been *in law*, as well as in practice, since at least May 2018.

@ICOnews published some helpful (draft) guidance just last month that can point you in the right direction if there's any confusion:

The man's either lying or he's DANGEROUSLY ignorant / ill-informed.

Hancock can't have missed that Cummings' henchman Ben, who attended SAGE, was the brother of Marc Warner (CEO of Faculty Science Ltd, formerly ASI Data Science Ltd) that built the #dashboards Matty Moo-Moos...
...so loves, on top of @PalantirTech's Foundry "#DataPlatform" (remember those words!) that @NHSEngland has contracted for another 2 YEARS, to feed data from NHSE's ever-so-untransparent #DataStore.

But let's push it further - away from the now-defunct @CamAnalytica - in the...
...direction of the notoriously 👇👇👇 bullshitting:

#AI company that also happens to be @MattHancock's GP:

A company Hancock appears to be pushing his @NHSX minions to use to replace #NHS111 triage...

Hi, @BHFDataScience! Please could you point me to a copy of your letter that is reported here:

I've checked your website, but I can't seem to find a copy:

Ah, no worries - I see it now. You tweeted a link to it, and I see it is on @HDR_UK's website:

On reading your letter, @medConfidential would heartily agree with paragraphs 1, 3 and 5...
On paragraph 3, we very much agree that #trustworthy use of patient data for #ethically-approved #research is good.

But not ALL intended uses of #GPDPR *are* trustworthy, as @NHSDigital's own data release registers confirm:
