THREAD: Mr Tang: Wrong!

Your quisling government & its #CCP puppet masters are to blame

You, your police officers, your fellow quisling proxy zombies & the dictatorship you slavishly work for are covered in blood, Mr Tang

And in the next tweet in this thread I'll explain why/
Point by point:

1. If #CCP had kept its promise to allow "one country, two systems" & "#HongKong people running HongKong" & upheld basic freedoms, human rights & rule of law, we would not see the tragedy we see today/
2. If your quisling regime had not introduced the idiotic extradition bill in 2019, we might not be where we are today

3. If your quisling regime had listened to the millions of totally peaceful #HongKongers in 2019, we would not be where we are today
4. If your #HKPF cops had not responded to peaceful protests with barbaric, indiscriminate violence & brutality, we would not be where we are today

5. If your quisling regime had held police accountable for its disproportionate violence, we wouldn't be where we are today
6. If your quisling regime had not arrested thousands of young people, and mistreated them severely - with reports of rape and beatings - while not a single cop has been held accountable and any call for inquiry has been refused, we wouldn't be where we are today
7. When the overwhelming majority of #HongKongers voted for pro-democracy candidates in the District Council elections in November 2019 - if your quisling regime had taken this as an opportunity for dialogue, reconciliation & reform, we wouldn't be where we are today
8. If your puppet masters in #CCP had not forced such an absurd #NationalSecurityLaw on #HongKong, with such total lack of consultation, in total violation of the Basic Law and the Sino-British Joint Declaration, we would not be where we are today.
9. If your quisling regime and your #CCP puppet masters had not expelled the entire pro-democracy camp from the Legislative Council, and then jailed 47 democrats for the 'crime' of having conducted a primary election, we wouldn't be where we are today
10. If your quisling regime had not strangled to death #AppleDaily and jailed its editor, its proprietor #JimmyLai and its senior executives, killing #HongKong's #PressFreedom, we would not be where we are today
Mr Tang, the 10 examples I have given are just a summary of the dismantling of #HongKong's freedoms, human rights, the rule of law and autonomy over the past year.

There are many other examples I could have quoted in this thread.
The broken promises, lies and repression which your #CCP puppet masters and your pathetic, quisling, proxy, zombie regime has unleashed on #HongKong are the reasons why we're in the situation we face today.
Mr Tang:

I do not condone violence. I am heartbroken by the tragedy today.

But you have to look inside your heart, mind and soul and search yourself critically, to find out why it happened.
When you drive democrats out of the legislator, peaceful protestors off the streets and kill independent media,

When you restrict academic freedom and religious freedom,

When you turn schools from centres of education into brainwashing propaganda outlets,
When you close off every single normal avenue for expression, and impose 'thought crimes' and introduce a 'thought police' and you terrorise young kids for being kids and you arrest people for wearing a yellow face mask and you turn an open city into a city of fear & repression
When people feel they have nowhere else to turn - then they'll either leave the city, as so many are, or they may resort to acts of desperation because you have forced them into a corner, having denied them every traditional form of freedom of expression
So Mr Tang: think about it

I do not condone extreme acts at all. I hate violence.

But you, your fellow quislings and your puppet-masters have to think about what you have unleashed by your refusal to listen and your intent on repression

It's you who have blood on your hands
I appeal to all #HongKongers to stay calm, peaceful and to look after each other, and to stay safe.

I appeal to all freedom-loving people outside #HongKong now to do everything we can to #FightForFreedom #StandWithHongKong

#PrayforHongKong
Apologies for a long thread - but I felt it was important

With 💕 for #HongKong and #HongKongers

THREAD: Yesterday we commemorated 4 anniversaries:

- 100th birthday of Chinese Communist Party
- 24th anniversary of #HongKong handover
- 1st anniversary of #NationalSecurityLaw
- 1st anniversary of #BNO policy

3 that represent death & destruction, one which offers a lifeline/
So for the four anniversaries, I wrote three op-eds and chaired one webinar

THREAD: Delighted that @ShaunBaileyUK, @Conservatives candidate for #MayorofLondon, has put action in response to the Chinese Communist Party in his manifesto

He promises City Hall sanctions on China until
it stops human rights abuses & sets out how/

See bit.ly/32DfKzz
He says:

"China is undermining human
rights in #HongKong through it’s
oppressive national security law and
committing genocide against #Uyghurs
in Xinjiang. I have repeatedly
called for the @MayorofLondon to use
City Hall’s influence to stand up to
China"
"City Hall’s extensive links to Beijing means that this is an action well within the Mayor’s remit. I will implement City Hall sanctions on China. I will end the twinning arrangement between London and Beijing"/

THREAD:

Most governments have made mistakes in handling #COVID19

A few - especially #Taiwan - have been exemplary. We should learn from them

But there's one which more than any other is responsible for unleashing this pandemic upon us all: the Chinese Communist Party regime
First, they tried to cover up the truth

They repressed the whistleblowers - the doctors and citizen journalists who were trying to alert the world

Then, they failed to inform the WHO & the world in a timely way

Then, they refused offers of help from the United States
Then, they insisted #Taiwan - which was one of first to warn of danger & has handled the pandemic in exemplary way - be excluded from the WHO for petty political reasons

And their man - @DrTedros - went along with it

We should have been learning from Taiwan, not excluding them

So guys: wake up

We need to diversify supply chains

Why are we buying PPE, ventilators, from Chinese Communist Party which gave the world the pandemic in the first place?

First they send us the disease to kill us

Then they sell us - at high price - equipment to protect us?
We need to make masks, ventilators, PPE, food, other sources of daily survival ourselves

But also we need to invest in and trade with countries that don't commit mass atrocities, breach international treaties or inflict pandemics on the world

Eg:

#Taiwan, #Japan, #SouthKorea
Eg #Indonesia #India #Malaysia #Brazil #Singapore

And others ...

These should be our major trading and investment partners: NOT the Chinese Communist Party regime.

THREAD: As the Vatican prepares to renew its ridiculous deal with the Chinese Communist Party regime, which has delivered precisely zero for the Church & only entrenched the regime's repression, I remind you what I've been saying for past few years:

THREAD: I want to say some things about China, Chinese people, the brutal, mendacious Chinese Communist Party regime, & what we should do about it all.

I am conscious that I tweet a lot. But bear with me and follow this thread if you have time.

First: I love China & its people
Second, I first went to China aged 18

I began my exploration of the world by teaching English in Qingdao

I studied a Masters in China Studies at @SOAS

I lived in #HongKong for the first 5 years after the handover

I began my adult life in China

ucanews.com/news/a-love-af…
Third, for the first 3 decades of my adult life, I went in & out of China regularly - I have lost count, but I have probably visited China more than 50 times

Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Qingdao, Dali, Guilin, Yangshuo are places I love :)
