There are indeed reports of firing in both directions, across the frontline which separates free and occupied ZP.
Reliable reports of explosions in occupied areas, while #Ukraine says its' air defence is working:
In #Kharkiv there are conflicting reports.
Some channels say air defences working well here too.
However others posting on social media about "arrivals" in the area, and the audio on this video clip is convincing
#Dnipropetrovsk oblast also suffering explosions a little earlier.
The south of the region was being hit by Russian missiles, around #KrivyiRih and in #Marhanets where this video is from although it doesn't reveal too much.
No videos/photos yet from some of the occupied areas, but reliable reports that #Ukraine has taken out a Russian base in #Melitopol and over the regional border in #Kherson oblast, early intel suggests another attack by the Hydroelectric plant in #Kakhovka.
In Occupied #Donetsk plenty of these types of videos on social media.
A busy night for air defence. Not clear yet if any missiles reached their intended targets.
Meanwhile let's take a look how #Russia's world is going in occupied #Ukraine.
This is #Donetsk, where after 8 years not too much pushing and shoving as water is handed out.
Taps? Pipes? Who needs those? Putin doesn't give a s**t, which is just as well considering the plumbing!
A new report says "Russians are using underground bunkers at the (#Zaporizhzhia) Nuclear power plant (in #Enerhodar) to hold and torture the ever-increasing number of Ukrainians they abduct"
As I reported earlier, the exiled mayor of #Melitopol now confirms one of #Russia's largest military bases was destroyed. The "Avtocolorlit" plant is no more says Ivan Fedorov.
He also claims in #Myrny a building being used to prepare a pseudo-referendum was also destroyed.
Two people have been injured by broken glass during overnight shelling of #Zaporizhzhia. Three summer houses were hit in Shevchenkivskyi district in the city.
The village of #Orikhiv, about 50km southeast of ZP was also shelled - no casualties there.
Also in #Zaporizhzia region, police say "people died" in the village of #Kamianka as a result of "armed aggression of the occupiers"
This is in Polohiv district and can be hard to find on maps - the village has had 3 names in 6 years, previously Kuibysheve + Bilmak.
Occasionally I step back and try to see things from a wider perspective, to ensure I am not taken over by hyperbole and exaggerating #Russia's crimes and the brainwashing of the people.
Then I see things like this and realise I may be too lenient:
Your invitation to visit #Ukraine has been cancelled.
That's the message from the country's ambassador in #Germany after another perfect example of appeasement of a dictator.
#Russia says its rocket attack in the centre of #Zaporizhzhia was on the 'Motor Sich' plant, "where helicopters were being repaired"
Meanwhile 🇷🇺 Defence is again accusing #Ukraine of firing "another 5 shells in the 6th block pumping station" which cools the nuclear power plant.
Another Russian base in #Ukraine has been destroyed; this time in #Luhansk
Exiled Governor Serhiy Hadai says they hit #Svatove around 50km from the #Russia border.
The Occupiers published photos of damage without mentioning a military presence.
Spokesman Serhiy Bratchuk says they hit soldiers and equipment in #NovaKakhovka, #Lyubimovka and Kherson itself. Among equipment he claims destroyed are 11 rocket launchers. #StopRussia
Crowds also gathered in #Maidan on #Kyiv.
A separate display saw small flags displayed for each soldier who's died defending #Ukraine from the Russian invasion.
I'm Tweeting this news release from #Russia in full:
"The temporary suspension of the issuance of 10-year international passports by the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry for a period of ten years is connected solely with the need to carry out technical work."
In #Russia officials say the cause of the fire at the market in #Volzhsky was "a violation of fire safety requirements during welding"
No injuries
Thx @CarolynnePries1 for spotting a video of the start of the fire from which I've taken this screenshot.
A major incident in #Enerhodar tonight with both sides blaming each other.
5 have been injured, one is critical in hospital after shelling of apartment blocks in the town.
No mention, or danger to, #Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
The good news is Friday has begun fairly quietly. This is in line with the general trend of fewer missiles being fired by #Russia, likely indicating some "rationing" of diminishing stocks.
They won't run out soon, but cannot replace as quickly as they were firing.
🇺🇦Happy 31st birthday #Ukraine🇺🇦
It's Independence Day, but it also marks exactly 6 months since #Russia's jets, tanks + troops invaded the country (8 years after the start of the war)
This is daily thread number 182. All the news all the time
Yesterday, the thread was interrupted by @TwitterSupport banning me for 12 hours and their Execs refusing to reply to requests. Thanks to those who tried to help but the whole system is crazy
So what was my "crime"?
Errr.. I wrote about this story which is all over Twitter and international media.
It may have been Kremlin trolls, but I was almost instantly banned when mocking the FSB's videos.
Apparently I released "intimate details". WTF??
When @TwitterSupport's arbitrary ban expires you have two options.
Only at that point can you dispute Twitter's ban.
If you challenge the reason for the ban you stay banned for two weeks while they "investigate"
If you accept your tweet was wrong it's deleted and you're "free"
