#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: a deal has been reached in order to end the #SudanCoup which has been going on for over a year now.

Both the #FFC and the military have agreed to a 24-month transition, under the leadership of a civilian PM, with elections at the end.

But there's a but πŸ‘‡
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: just as with the previous transition deal there is very little that holds either #Burhan or #Hemedti to honor their promises, meaning the country is and remains very vulnerable to another #SudanCoup at any moment.

There is also no mention of any reform of the military
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: the Resistance committees, which were the backbone of the December Revolution have already voiced their opposition to the deal since it doesn't include any framework to bring justice to the 110+ protesters who were killed since the #SudanCoup.
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: pro-democracy protests are taking place in the capital city #Khartoum as the transitional deal is being signed.

These protesters reject any deal that does not include military reform and justice to those who were murdered.
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: in the Republican Palace in #Khartoum political leaders might promise democratic reforms. But outside protesters are facing the same repression they've faced throughout the coup period.
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: its important to note the Resistance Committees do not stand alone in their opposition to the deal. The Sudanese Communist Party, #Darfur Bar Association and the #SPLMN have also criticized the agreement.

The #SLA-MM and #JEM are yet to be convinced.
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: tear gas and armored vehicles as it is just more of the same in #Khartoum.

The transition agreement seems to have very little support in the streets.
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: it looks like the SPA, which was the leading force of the December Revolution and the anti-coup resistance, is also not supportive of the transitional agreement with the military.
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: with all of the country's main pro-democracy grassroot forces (SPA, RS) in opposition to the agreement, it seems this accord is nothing more than a pact between the (para)military forces and the country's ancient political elite (Umma Party, DUP, Congress Party)
#Sudan πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©: which means minimal representation of the main driving forces of the pro-democracy movement (youth, women, periphery).

Elections in 2024 will probably end up just being another who-gets-what between these established parties which have been around for decades.

BREAKING: #Armenia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡² and #Azerbaijan πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ώ have agreed to sign a formal peace deal which includes an official delimitation of the border by the end of the year.
This deal (if successfully followed through) would be a major diplomatic victory for the European Union.

Just last week intens negotiations between πŸ‡¦πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ώ were taking place under πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί supervision. The Kremlin was completely left out of the process
News of a possible deal does not mean that peace in the #Caucasus is within reach. The #Kremlin could try to spoil an agreement, #Aliyev is still an expansionist authoritarian, and the future status of #NagornoKarabakh will probably remain undetermined.
