*A thread on why the trouble in #China is real*

#Singapore is one of the best test cases to judge the sentiments in #China. Now I gather that many Mainland Chinese families living in 🇸🇬are shipping essential medicines to their loved ones in 🇨🇳owing to a lack of stocks.

Reports show that anxious relatives in #Singapore are waiting for hours together in long queues to procure medicines and then courier them to addresses in #China.

Seeing this, Singapore's Ministry of Health has advised the public to buy medicines for their own use only.

The major drugs being shipped from SG to 🇨🇳 include the painkiller Panadol & the traditional Chinese medicine #LianhuaQingwen.

Now, there is a story about LianhuaQingwen!
#LianhuaQingwen is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine used for the treatment of influenza. In February 2020, it was recommended for the treatment of COVID-19 by Chinese medical authorities.

But, there are not a lot of scientific bases to show that it works against #COVID.
In Nov 2021, the Health Sciences Authority of the #Singapore government released an official statement that #LianhuaQingwen is not to be used for treatment against #COVID.
The maker of #LianhuaQingwen however has vowed to expand its production amid controversy over the surge in prices.

#Weibo is full of posts that comment about the surge in prices of this medicine with its share prices also hitting the roof!

Aside from this, every other medicine that cures fever and cough, and even #KN95 masks have seen their prices double, triple and even quadruple in the past week across #China.

Just putting these out to ensure there is no widespread panic.

#China's issues could be down to a combo of rraaons. I'm in touch with a few SMEs who are still studying this medically.

1. Chinese vaccines aren't great with #Omicron variants
2. They did not vaccinate their elderly population as much. Less than 50% vaxxed

3. Sadly, similar to HongKong in early 2021, many elders will perish in this wave
4. Owing to severe lockdowns, looks like herd immunity ain't all that great in #China. We need more medical analysis to confirm this

5. These variants moving around in China are already prevalent in other places like the USA & Europe

6. More genomic sequencing needs to be done

The @NIA_India has arrested 9 Sri Lankans which includes gangsters (Kimbula Ele Guna & Ladiya) from a special camp for #Srilanka's Tamil refugees at the #Tiruchirappalli over their alleged involvement in #drugs & arms smuggling to revive the #LTTE.

Sources say that the @NIA_India has also revealed that 2 out of the 9 arrested were in constant touch with a #Pakistan-based drug runner (Haji Salim), who often travelled between #Dubai, Pakistan & #Iran.

Indian army personnel sustained multiple Injuries at the #Tawang faceoff but also ensured a higher number of injuries on the Chinese side. The incident is supposed to have happened on December 9th.

Both sides disengaged soon after the face-off. There are unconfirmed reports of the Indian Army capturing 10 #PLA soldiers soon after the incident and later releasing them. No official version of the same so we can choose not to focus on the same for now.

Jameza/Jameesha #Mubin was 29y.o. man from the area #Ukkadam.

Reports say that he was radicalised by the #IS philosophy and was planning an #EasterBombing style operation in #Coimbatore and was planning to kick start the same from Konniyamman temple or Kotta Eswaran temple.
It is also being said that he was already on the watchlist of the #Tamilnadu police as he had tried to set off an explosion few years ago.

He is also set to have close contacts with Mohammed Azharuddin, now in #Kerala jail for his involvement with #ISIS.
It is important to know that Azharuddin had close contacts with #ZahranHashim, the chief mastermind of the #EasterBombings in #Srilanka in 2019.

Mubin was NOT driving a gas vehicle but a petrol vehicle and the early triggering of the cylinder could have been an accident.

Last night, a distant relative of my mother (an old couple) notified her of not being able to reach their son (Let us call him Mr. X) who lives alone in Secunderabad. Mr. X was not answering his phone for the past few days. The old couple shared his house address.
Given it was really late on a Sunday night, my mother decided to take a chance with @SwiggyInstamart by choosing some biscuits and juice items to be delivered there. Her idea was to check on Mr. X & ensure he was safe and sound. A police complaint was the next option.

The Swiggy delivery man went up to the area (@ 9.15pm IST) but could not find the right house as the address seemed confusing. It was eventually found that the address was not incorrect. After a lot of searching by the Swiggy man, it was deemed futile to continue the search.
