Good morning, welcome to Daily Thread number 465 covering #Ukraine's heroic defence against #Russia's illegal aggression.
I've been here from (before) the start of war, reporting on (sometimes from) a country I've loved, worked + lectured in many, many times.
Overnight was quiet
Before we get stuck in to today's news, a gentle reminder these threads are basically an unpaid full time job - actually more than that as you get days off with a job! Coffee donations welcome (link in Bio)
A few drones buzzed #Ukraine yesterday evening but air raids did not last long and no damage was reported.
The drone/cruise missile numbers on #Russia's daily losses are high as they include Friday morning's attacks.
Artillery, special equipment & fuel tanks way above average
Some encouraging news from the British update. #Russia's (not so) elite VDV is ever more heavily involved in defending gains in #Bakhmut.
The key element is the invaders' lack of flexibility, which augurs well for #Ukraine's offensive.
However fresh Chechen units have returned.
More anger with #Hungary after an official video from the supposed ally shows Occupied #Crimea as part of #Russia.
PM Korbán also said a counter offensive would mean heavy losses and called for negotiations with Moscow.
🇺🇦FM @DmytroKuleba urged Korban to get Russia to withdraw.
Head of #Ukraine's National Security says parts of #Iran's kamikaze drones come from western allies.
@OleksiyDanilov says they disassembled Shaheds, but admits some components may have been transferred pre-war. Previous investigations have shown how aviation parts reach Russia.
Strong rumours inside #Russia that Shoigu's days are numbered as Defence Minister
We've heard this before of course, along with many other unsubstantiated stuff like the impending deaths of Putin/Lukashenko.
1/2 LOL! In #Belgorod' region, citizens have been informed there is a 'humanitarian corridor' in action for those wishing to flee to #Ukraine.
It comes after the "Legion of Free Russia" accused #Russia of bombing their own citizens and Chechen units spreading propaganda.
2/2 Here is the full translated statement by the anti-Putin #Russian contingent.
Quick update on yesterday's car bombing in Occupied #Zaporizhzhia.
It's confirmed Sergei Didovidyuk, owner of a local restaurant/bar where invaders were treated as VIPs, died in the attack. Two other passengers (not 3) are both injured
📷RIA Melitopol
This building on Central St, next to the House of Life was struck by one of #Russia's rockets.
There were no casualties this time - much of the population already evacuated the city near the frontline in #Donetsk.
Earlier the Governor of #Donetsk announced 3 civilians were injured in attacks on 17 settlements in the previous 24 hours, while in a forest in Lyman a man died when blown up by a landmine.
#Russia struck with grad and smerch rockets as well as Fab-250 aerial bombs.
There is a conerted campaign against @Vitaliy_Klychko who visited bomb shelters today.
A court's ordered house arrest for the Head of a Desnyan clinic where a shelter was locked. In turn he calls for Kyiv's mayor to be charged.
Y'day Zelenskyy threatened 'a knockout' for Klychko
Quick update from the front. #Bakhmut unchanged, no progress on the flanks. #Avdiivka/#Mariinka - increasingly difficult for #Ukraine defenders, especially in the latter. #Zaporizhzhia region - better news with frequent hits on invaders, others transfered to cover elsewhere.
The "Legion of Free Russia" publishs what it says is an interception of a conversation from #Russia's amy personnel, proving they are hitting residential buildings in #Shebekino, in #Belgorod region
It's one short sentence which could easily be faked, but RU has done this before
A security guard of a clinic in #Kyiv has admitted guilt over the closed bomb shelter, as a result of which people died in the Desnyan district this week.
He said "everything happened so quickly, in 5-8 minutes, so they did not have time to open the door."
#Russia claims two more people have died and 2 have been injured in today's shelling around #Shebekino.
An elderly woman died in Novaya Tavolzhanka and the other victim was in Bezlyudovka.
#Ukraine media RBK says🇺🇦Intelligence Service was likely behind the car bomb assassination of a collaborator in #Zaporizhzhia
RBK published photos of the device used to blow up the vehicle. It's now known Serhoo Didovyuk made himself a candidate in forthcoming illegal elections.
You have to wonder whether leaders in #Indonesia are
a) stupid
b) bribed by #Russia
or c) both.
The latest so called 'peace plan' involves "referenda" in occupied territories, completing ignoring the fact any known pro-#Ukraine residents have been killed, jailed or fled.
On the occasion of the first ever all-Manchester final, I'm not at Wembley, but in #Manchester, at the Trafford Centre while my kids shop and I drink coffee and go through your replies while trying to stream the big match!
OMG how desperate are they?
Social media shows Putin's Russia is charging 3000 rubles ($37) to evacuate them from the danger zone around Shebekino!
The Occupiers use helicopters to drag something from #Berdyansk to near the #Azovstal plant.
Presumably something damaged in the explosions in Berdyansk yesterday.
Unconfirmed reports of more explosions in #Berdyansk
Occupiers in #Berdyansk claim they shot down 6 incoming missiles.
Local residents report around 10 incoming missiles.
A few signs of smoke near the airport in the city, but it seems like #Russia's air defence may have improved from the other day when the port got hit.
A monitoring group in #Crimea has recorded #Russia stealing around $16m worth of grain in May alone.
A man has been rescued alive from the rubble of the house hit in the outskirts of #Dnipro this evening.
In total, 13 people have been injured in the terrorist attack. Three of them are children, all boys aged 6, 11 and 15 according to emergency services who published this video.
Remember the smoke in #Berdyansk earlier? All the missiles shot down says #Russia?
Well the occupiers' propaganda channels published this of a "shot down Tochka-U" missile fired by #Ukraine.
And we all believe it landed right there and not a single window pane broke🤔🤣🤡
Again #Shebekino, though now with a lot of the city evacuated it could easily be #Russia's troops doing the stealing judging by how they "performed" in #Ukraine.
It's loud again in #Belgorod region again.
The Governor has just said there's been a direct hit on the village of Murom. "There is a fire... and damage to a recreation centre, school and kindergarten.”
Murom is just 300m from the border with 🇺🇦
More photos from #Russia's terrorist attack in #Dnipro this evening.
Look at this. Look at the fear of those in the last picture.
Ask why is #Russia doing this? Because #Ukraine wanted to join #NATO? Nonsense. Russia does this because its leaders are evil. End of story.
It's where they release cruise and ballistic missiles from. The usual 3 options: 1) They return to base 2) They simulate launch or send dummies 3) Full attack on #Ukraine
Last tweet of this thread, but maybe not last of the night.
Sirens/air raid alerts are sounding in #Kyiv now as the threat speads across the country for possible cruise missile (and drone) attacks.
I'll keep tabs.
Thank you all for your support today💙💛

An explosive start to Day 1334 of Russia's 10-day operation to erase Ukraine from the map.
Not quite #EATP for Putin.
An early start to Sunday's thread as we have news from central and eastern Russia.
All the news, all the time, every damn day. Here we go again!
So much happened yesterday and the fireworks really started in the last couple of hours.
Do yourself a favour and have a quick skim through what you missed from Saturday's news about Ukraine's battle for survival. Incredibly only 14,000 views😳🫣
Every Single Day.
Ukraine's brave men and women on (or supporting) the frontline cannot switch off, so neither shall I in documenting the major events of Russia's horrific war.
As we begin a new week, it's the 1,321st Daily Thread - never missed one yet. So let's dive-in..
Well it's been lively overnight in Russia, with many reports of Ukraine's drones causing problems.
You can see photos and video from those reports at the end of yesterday's thread, which began with more daytime strikes by Moscow's war criminals...
Tuesday 30 September 2025 - it's Day 1315 of Russia's full invasion. That's 3 years, 7 months and one week of Ukraine trying to defend itself against an infinitely bigger army.
But Ukrainians have a just cause and the sum is much bigger than the parts.
Here's the daily thread:
A shorter thread yesterday, with not a lot of ground-breaking news. But still more than 30 posts, you may like to catch up on, such as Russia's moaning about its election interference in Moldova coming to nothing!
Hello again everybody. Are we ready for Day 1311 of Ukraine's defence against the all-out invasion by a Kremlin horde? I know I am, so let's go.
Documenting all the important news, and Russian war crimes, every single day - still never missed one - this is THE daily thread:
You can almost smell the weekend approaching, but first let's look back at Thursday.
Another wide variety of stories, and what a contrast. Almost record numbers of likes on BSky yet way below par number of views here on X.
Review what you missed here:
Good morning on Day 1310 of the full-scale war in Ukraine. But let's not forget Russia first invaded 11.5 years ago and the free world was too timid to defend a democracy from a tyrant, which led us to this position now after far too many wasted lives (and $)
Here's my daily🧵
Wednesday was another busy-busy day.
Too much to detail, just make sure you are up to date, but clicking and scrolling here, but remember to come back.
Russia has managed to attack railway infrastructure and some power targets overnight.
The latest is in Kirovohrad region, where 3 villages are without power after drone strikes. The city of Oleksandriya in the east of the region was heavily attacked.
There were no casualties.
