The KC-NE thread starts here:
Right from the very first play of the game, Chiefs rush had an impact on Brady's mentality. Couldn't release quick, so missed open Allen.
Gronk double covered, underneath played extremely well. Only way for Brady to go was to covered Amendola.
I didn't like the DPI call fwiw. Ball looked uncatchable either way.
Play was clearly designed to hit Gronk, Chiefs took that away by double covering him again. #56 for KC does great job especially.
Genius coverage. KC executes the 3 man rush on purpose, takes away short passing game, forces Brady to overshoot Gronk.
The Chiefs know NE isn't famous for its vertical passing ability. They understand Brady isn't a great downfield passer, so they force that.
This is beautiful. Both underneath routes are double covered, allowing for single man coverage downfield. Brady misses. Outstanding coverage
KC's lack of rush made the Pats OL look so good, but what it also did was take away what that offense thrives on so much.
Freaking dime by Brady. Gronk had to catch this.
Amazing tackle by Ron Parker to prevent the first down.
Reid. 3 WR set on the right side, Tyreek Hill is immediately schemed open.
Alex Smith slander is spared for now. Consider yourself lucky, Alex, but I'll be back.
Besides, I wanna make a focus on the Chiefs defense because they did fantastic last night.
Again, incredible work by the Chiefs defense. Can tell immediately Brady is trying to hit underneath, nothing there at all.
KC wasn't fooled on this play, pulled out all the stops.
Would assume Smith developed this motion to show more arm strength downfield.
Nobody covered Tyreek Hill (literally no one) on at least 5 of his first 6 catches, including the touchdown.
The other one I would have to use the All 22 to get, but no one was on him.
Chiefs weren't fucking around on this flea flicker from the Patriots. Justin Houston sniffed it and delivered the pressure.
Devin McCourty was one of the rare Patriot defenders that actually played really well last night.
3 of NE's scoring drives came aided by DPI calls. That's why KC gave up 27 pts when the performance suggests otherwise.
The deep connection to Cooks after KC failed to move the ball down 24-21 should've given momentum to NE.
But they covered everything after that extremely well, forced Brady into throwing passed the LOS.
All of Brady's options were taken away. A rare moment where that happens.
Alex Smith wasted no time putting the Chiefs ahead.

I just typed that.

Also Hunt looked great.
One of the few times KC intentionally brought pressure. Used that to force Brady to check down, where they covered it.
Really bad playcall. KC knew what was going on with everyone so close together. Rare predictability from NE.
Literally 4th and inches too and they don't do a QB sneak with the best guy to ever do it.
5 man protection vs a 3 man rush. That's exactly what the Chiefs wanted, because they didn't allow anyone open at all.
Gronk double covered at the end again.
Justin Houston is one of the best defenders of our generation period.
Imagine getting released by a bunch of teams before getting picked up by KC and saving the season opener with this play. Terrance Mitchell.
McCourty (closest to Hunt) was somehow able to stop this from being a TD.
NOW is where KC fires the blitz up 2 scores, and Houston nearly delivers a safety.
Right tackle for NE didn't look good at all.
Brady wasn't good, but it's the kind of performance where the defensive quality was the reason for it.
Alex Smith had a bad first half, ran into pressure constantly, missed open receivers. 2nd half was really good.
Kareem Hunt looks to have made me eat crow about Spencer Ware as the better RB. Very talented receiver and runner.
