1) Here's a look, with few documents, at 1 way Trump Team is losing: legal fights re rolling back key environmental rules. Stick with me
2) Here the oil industry biggest trade group asks Interior's Zinke to postpone new rule prohibiting flaring from oil gas wells on fed land.
3) Voila! Zinke does just what oil industry and coal industry wants. So environmental groups quickly sue.
4) State AG from Calif joins the effort to challenge the rollback
5) On Wednesday, a federal magistrate from Northern District of California issued this ruling. Interior Department had broken the law.
6) EPA had tried a similar move to kill a second rule intended to reduce climate-change causing methane emissions. Here is Pruitt
7) So the enviors sued again, along with health groups, and other consumer advocates. But now, GOP AGs joined Pruitt to back him up.
9) Pause for a moment to see lawyers:Wood for DOJ used to be energy industry lawyer. Wehrum, on industry side, nominated to take an EPA job
10) Well, the Court of Appeals sides with the environmentalists and Dem state AGs. Pruitt act was "arbitrary" and "capricious" and illegal
11) I am going to pause this tweet storm here to go to the gym. Will pick up in a bit. We are not even halfway through the cases.
12) Next up Interior, acting in direct response to coal industry lawyers, suspends new rule re royalties paid to mine federally owned coal
13) New Mexico and Calif AGs (Dems) sue, saying this move by Interior was illegal.
14) Federal magistrate, N. Dist Calif: Interior actually illegally, sides w Dem AGs. (Interior separately already moved again to kill rule)
15) Back to EPA. Pruitt says: We are delaying ozone rule, intended to prevent air pollution.
16) A pack of Dem AGs sue again, saying: you can't simply say 1 day: "I am hereby postpone this air quality rule." Law doesn't allow that.
17) In this case (& 2 others) Pruitt/other Trump agency facing lawsuit raises WHITE FLAG. Announces (on 2nd thought) we will enforce law
18) Next up NRDC sues EPA after EPA stalls on a rule intended to prevent toxic mercury from dental offices getting into the environment
19) Once again, facing lawsuit, EPA backs down. Facing lawsuit, DOJ enters and notifies court EPA is moving ahead with mercury rule.
20) COME ON, I know, You want 1 more. Right? Dept of Transportation asked by industry to delay highway greenhouse gas mitigation effort.
21) At this point, U can guess what happens next. Yes, DOT does as industry asks. Delays highway greenhouse gas mitigation rule.
22) California AG and other Dem state AGs sue again. (Calif filed at least 16 Trump related lawsuits alone) to challenge DOT delay
23) DOT WHITE FLAG: Facing lawsuit, before Court ruling, DOT backs down. Publishes notice that it is moving ahead with the rule
