1) Our staff in #Sinjar were 400 meters away when they witnessed peshmarga's withdraw from Northeast Sinjar this morning.
2) They witnessed Peshmarga burning their bases after they withdrew.
3) They said #Yazidis are very happy and feel like #Sinjar's liberation from dictatorship of KDP was almost like that of #ISIS
4) Our Staff also said all international NGOs left #Sinjar 2 days be4 this event unfolded ( assuming there was going to be combat involved)
5) We encourage all NGOs to resume humanitarian work in #Sinjar. There are approx. 10,000 families that have returned and need help
6) From my assessment in #Sinjar 2 months ago, medical aid continues to be #1 unmet need in Sinjar, clean water and schools are next
7) Many families have hardly anything to eat. I knew of multiple families in town of Dugre that were adding tomato paste to oil & eating it
8) Many returnees are living in makeshift areas & with winter around the corner, will not survive
9) Many inter. NGOs were not allowed into #Sinjar when KDP controlled it & few that were, had strict restriction where & what they could do
10) Asyaish had threathened the Director of Sunone district, Naif Sedo & #Sinjar Director, Shex Alyas to not sign our NGO paperwork to get-
11) Registered through Baghdad and do work in Sinjar. This happened shortly after I left Iraq.
12) Both directors told us that all of our paperwork was ready but were afraid to sign them because they received threats from Asayish
13) The KDP did not want another # Yazidi-American NGO in #Sinjar like Yazda. ( Asayish words to our staff)
14) We had a center prepared for activities for women in town of Borek where the highest number of families had returned but-
15) Unfortunately we could not provide help to the women do to being blocked by Asayish.
16)Our calls 2 KRG staff in DC were in vain in matter. Meanwhile many people were suffering &we were prevented from providing aid to them
17) I'm happy to say we are resuming our registration process & hope many other NGOs join us in providing life changing aid in #Sinjar
18) Our team in #Sinjar is highly trained & speak Arabic, Kurdish & English. We are happy to work & help any other NGOs in #Sinjar
