Let's be clear: Flynn is a cooperating witness, so if Mueller is looking into whether Trump told Flynn to lie to the FBI, as NBC reports, it's because Mueller believes that—and if Mueller believes that, it's because Flynn told him that Trump told him (Flynn) to lie to the FBI.
2/ Flynn loses his plea deal *immediately* if he lies to Mueller. Therefore, any investigative lead Mueller pursues going forward that involves Flynn was and is pursued with input from Flynn. It's very important that Americans understand that, as we read the breaking news today.
3/ I'll go further: any criminal investigator or attorney reading this report from NBC and watching Mueller's investigation from the outside would now conclude that in fact Donald Trump did instruct Mike Flynn to lie to the FBI about his secret sanctions negotiations with Russia.
4/ The reason is that Flynn faces devastating consequences if he lies to Mueller. But we also know that Trump was involved in ordering the sanctions negotiations—according to what Flynn told a confidant and ABC News reported. It's now clear why Trump attacked ABC and Brian Ross.
5/ But there's more: as I've reported, we now know that Trump Jr. was the senior transition official at Mar-a-Lago at the time Flynn called K.T. McFarland to ask the transition for advice about negotiating sanctions with Russia. So Don knew, and certainly would've told his dad.
6/ In other words, Michael Flynn has every reason to tell the truth about this, and we have every reason to believe that so far the president has lied about it and *repeatedly*—which lends substantial credence to the claims that Flynn is clearly now making to Bob Mueller.
7/ Of course, a criminal investigator or criminal attorney would go much further in substantiating the claims I've made here, including looking at the many words/actions confirming that Mr. Trump exhibits consciousness of guilt surrounding Flynn's secret sanctions negotiations.
8/ Going to turn my attention to the events in New York City now, but it is really important that, as of today, we understand that the chances Special Counsel Bob Mueller has evidence the president *directly and unambiguously* committed an impeachable offense are now nearly 100%.
9/ And to be clear, the nature of that damning evidence is certainly testimonial (from Flynn) but also may take other forms, such as documentary evidence provided by Flynn to Mueller. But there's no question what Flynn is describing to Mueller is a (Nixonian) impeachable offense.
10/ So what NBC is really reporting today—whether it says so explicitly or not—is that Mueller is now attempting to *substantiate* with other evidence the testimonial evidence he's *already received* from Mike Flynn about President Trump's illegal (and impeachable) actions. {end}
