Diane Feinstein's release of the Fusion GPS testimony is already backfiring. It shows how Fusion refused to answer critical questions pertaining to their activities and those of Christopher Steele. Feinstein doesn't think any further ahead than the next headline.
Feinstein has now set up a showdown with the FBI to reveal the name of the source Fusion claims the FBI had inside the Trump campaign. IF no source existed then Feinstein will singlehandedly have destroyed her own Trump-Russia narrative. Same if the source is not credible.
Keep in mind the Democrats started this Trump-Russia line of accusations in the early spring/late winter before Trump had secured the nomination. They reached a fever pitch later in the summer as Trump gained momentum.
Fusion is known to lie and plant stories in the media and with government officials. So, it wouldn't be surprising if they were caught in a lie or half truth here. The FBI will have to reveal who their source is to Congress otherwise they'll destroy their own credibility.
If the contact within the FBI was Peter Strzok then there's a good chance there was collusion between the FBI and Fusion GPS which would also crater the Russia investigation. The investigation was originally into Russia interference which it really has not investigated.
Instead, the Mueller investigation has focused on the Trump campaign while ignoring the mountain of evidence of collusion between the Clinton campaign and Russia through another foreigner, Christopher Steele.
Democrats keep pointing out Steele has a sterling reputation. So did Comey until it was revealed he had already decided to exonerate Clinton. So did Peter Strzok until it was revealed he set up an 'insurance' plan to stop Trump's election or undermine his presidency.
This is another reason Strzok and Page need to be seriously grilled over possible contacts with Fusion GPS and the same with Bruce Ohr and any other FBI officials. The FBI should not have informed Fusion or Steele if there was an open investigation that alone would jeopardize it.
The FBI is not in the habit of jeopardizing high level investigations by openly informing those not involved in the actual investigation. Democrats are cheering the release of the testimony because they don't understand how bad it made Fusion look and the Pandora's box it opened.
As soon as Democrats figure out and understand Feinstein just did significant damage to the Russia narrative Democrats will turn on her demanding her resignation and investigation.

Another thing to keep in mind is Hillary supporter L. Jean Camp was one of the computer scientists that 'discovered' the ping between Trump Tower & Alfa Bank. Alfa Bank agreed to cooperate w/investigators stating its IP was spoofed by somebody in the US. alfabank.com/media/news/201…
Another thing sticks out in Fusion's testimony claiming Trump claimed properties were worth less. Tax accessing offices determine what a property value is, not the individual. If a person could arbitrarily determine tax value on property nobody would pay property tax.
Also, don't forget the Obama Administration was sharing unmasked individual's from the Trump campaign to everybody and their grandmother. FBI personnel like Strzok may have been indicating exposed people were sources when in fact they were being spied upon.
