If you care about the integrity of the US then you will understand the appropriate courses of action to protect our sovereignty. I am not an expert in law nor immigration. If I can find the time I will seek SC rulings & amendments that may rule out or strengthen these ideas:
2. Create an assimilation committee, comprised of members from various governmental departments (USCIS, DHS, DOS, DOL, Social Security, etc.)
3. The committe will oversee the creation of a mandatory assimilation course in which illegal immigrants will become certified for citizenship (TPS) for 1 year (or 18 months). In the event a significant wait time forms it could be possible to extend the TPS (1 time only).
4. TPS immigrants must go through current or strengthened citizenship processes in that 1 year (or so) period.
5. Limit sponsorship eligibility for green card applications and include an assimilation course in the lawful permanent residency process.
6. All unlawful and non-compliant illegal immigrants will be removed.
7. Establish a realistic federal quota for the intake of illegal immigrants that will allow states to deliberate with each other their own quotas in conjunction with federal standards.
I believe returning to a quota system and amending the Hart-Celler act would give the government more control over immigration.
There also needs to be a focus on enforcing CURRENT laws. Chain migration is only limited to CITIZENS, if I understand correctly [66 Stat. 176; 8 U.S.C. 1151 Sec. 201 (a)]. Please cite correction if I'm wrong.
I am fully aware immigration is far more comprehensive than the proposal laid out here, but I think it's a start on the right track, if it's even feasible.
