Chuck Schumer thought this was going to play out very differently for him. Now, #SchumerSellout & #SchumerSurrender are trending, following several days of #SchumerShutdown. What made it different this time?

2. Didn't take long for the GOP to put this together. Come on. Everyone has to admit it. This is funny. These are #SchumerSellout & #SchumerSurrender quotes from leftists. They just aggregated them.
3. And just for the record, they didn't get "less than nothing" from the #SchumerShutdown turned #SchumerSurrender. They got the @GOP within the margin of error on the generic ballot. Lol. Losing doesn't inspire enthusiasm. Good news for him, there's still plenty of time.

1. This isn't a negotiation. Nancy Pelosi is a weak speaker. She'll be the weakest we've had in a very long time, with no real bargaining power. Pelosi faces revolt if she compromises.

"Compromise" was the magic word when the GOP took over BOTH chambers. Now, not so much.
2. But back to the idea this is a negotiation. It is not and there is only one side willing to work out a compromise. Democrats told their base this wall & those who support it are racists.

Now, they have put themselves in a box. They'd rather have a broken promise a 2020 issue.

Have to be honest, the biggest lie tonight was told by Chuck Schumer. After all the hogwash. The lie was "we all support border security."

That's not true. Let's see if Glenn Kessler has the guts.
Second, if he wants to be as effective as he can be, Donald Trump should spend a lot more time in serious mode, like we saw tonight. Now to Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi...
Again, it always is very difficult to follow a president. But Schumer and Pelosi did not come across well, optically. They dismissed migrant human suffering and the deaths of Americans by calling it "manufactured."

They also appeared to concede the effectiveness of a border wall

1. If someone was elected promising "Hope and Change," but a corrupt status quo accepted him, then what hope was there for change?

None, and to think otherwise is self-delusion.

Real change comes at a cost to stability, and the status quo fights back. They don't roll over.
2. Now for the other side.

The election of one man to the presidency, a revolution does not make. If you were honest, wouldn't you admit that you are too easy on your party?

Everyone wants to blame an "other." But the corrupt status quo & its construct in D.C., are bipartisan.

After we leave the EU, we won’t be members any more.

The EU will treat us the same as they would any other third country. Not better. Not worse. The same.

Why? *Because we’re not members*.

That’s all you need to know to understand why a no-deal Brexit creates so many issues.
Yet the UK Government pushes the narrative, at every opportunity, that we are somehow being put upon by the EU. That they are seeking to make life difficult, for instance by enforcing border controls.

Weasel words, nothing more.

We chose to leave. The EU are not kicking us out.
It is British exceptionalism to expect the benefits of EU membership to continue after we leave.

The EU are behaving fairly, logically, applying the rules we signed up to willingly.

But the EU makes a great scapegoat for Government failings, so the finger pointing continues.

I keep thinking back to a discussion a few months on reddit about THE BELGARIAD. Several comments were made about it being cliche and pedestrian, and someone said, “Yeah, it’s a fine story, but it’s never going to be a classic.”
And all I could think to respond was, “It’s over thirty years later and we’re still talking about it. How is that NOT ‘a classic’?
But that got me thinking- I cite THE BELGARIAD (and THE MALLOREON, its sequel series) as one of my influential works. But what is that influence? I know I’ve read the whole series several times. My copies of the books are in terrible shape.
