What would your #USGovernment do in a pandemic for #NationalSecurity?

Take out a building?
Take out prison?
Take out a hospital?
Take out a shelter?
Take out a city?
Take out a state?

What would the oligarchs & kleptocrats do to out-#survive US?
On 9/11, scrambled jets were given orders to shoot down full passenger jets as necessary - don't think these discussions aren't taking place in earnest. #StephenMiller & #JaredKushner are in on the talks, so you know they're about #homicide and #genocide. They're real life Nazis.
"Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law and top adviser, and Stephen Miller, a senior policy adviser, took the lead in writing President Donald Trump's error-riddled address to the nation about the coronavirus outbreak."

Here was the thing with Dennis Donohue as Mayor of Salinas. He was a terrible Mayor. Even Joe Gunter, the current Mayor of #Salinas, was running around investigating Donohue for some crime or walking on crime scenes without permission.

He played fast and loose with the rules
2/

He sent Kelly McMillin a “police officer” over to the #Salinas #Californian (it was a daily paper at the time) to threaten them with zero #transparency if they didn’t stop writing mean articles about Dennis, but more importantly, his buddy Bruce”Troll” Taylor.
3/

Donohue made space for Bankers Casino, a future card room owned by a guy he was on the planning commish with - in a bizarre property transaction - with some deal made over dirt lots on Division St (probation was all abuzz about this, because ...)

He brought #Salinas

In case #teamrhetoric #politics #AcademicTwitter is looking for a new assignment for their political communication/campaign students: have them read this & find recent examples of each strategy: zocalopublicsquare.org/2020/03/15/why…
Or, pick one of the strategies and argue for why it is/not effective.

Or, explain why the rhetorical presidency model or the post-rhetorical presidency campaign model was better for democracy.
It's a short read & explains things for non-experts. It should be good at prompting discussion/engagement.

Guy at BSNL office was worried over his personal issues, started talking to me on his own, about lay offs, privatization, future of LIC, a lot. Said govt unable to control but later said, 'look at Pakistan, they've to mortgage all, even roads, we're much better' #Media #Narrative
He was explaining to me that in India, we're yet to sell railways but in Pakistan even 'roads sold' to keep the country's economy afloat'. Must have picked up from channels. So this comparison always makes people content, 'unse behtar hain', without stepping foot out of India.
This is the super narrative--comparison has to be with Pakistan, look at how others have sunk & we are still not doing badly. Even within locality it happens, people are sometimes more jealous about neighbour's accomplishment. So playing on these emotions. Truly amazing.

🗣️Our new book is out today: “#CasaPound Italia: contemporary #Extreme #Right #Politics” co-written by @CaterinaFroio @SciencesPo_CEE Matteo Albanese, Giorgia Bulli and myself @CrexUiO, for @routledgebooks @FFRAFAction (thread 1/15)
shorturl.at/nSW19
@CaterinaFroio @SciencesPo_CEE @CrexUiO @routledgebooks @FFRAFAction The volume presents a theory of contemporary right-wing #extremism that helps understand how a fringe group like CPI has been successful in placing its ideas in public debates in #Italy. shorturl.at/nSW19 (2/15)
@CaterinaFroio @SciencesPo_CEE @CrexUiO @routledgebooks @FFRAFAction We argue that this type of success has to do with #hybridization, which we define as the blurring of five main aspects of ‘#extreme right politics’: #ideology, internal structure, #activism, #mobilization and #communication. Hey folks: I wanted to share something @apmresearch just released that I’m very proud of:

Our VOTER PROFILE TOOLS, as part of our broader #RepresentingUS project. (Read: A wealth of data to understand the US electorate in interactive @tableau tools.)
apmresearchlab.org/representingus…
@APMResearch @tableau 2/
We at @apmresearch released these tools on #IowaCaucus day, but expect that they will be valuable up until the #2020election & beyond—to understand how eligible voters differ—often dramatically—from state to state & in each congressional district.

apmresearchlab.org/representingus…
@APMResearch @tableau 3/
Already I’ve read numerous #media stories about the #IowaCaucuses & #NewHampshirePrimary saying those states don’t reflect the nation’s #demographics, but the #journalists didn’t include any data as to HOW they differed and to what degree.

In India, politicians are not to serve us or society. They are to rule. As people identify with a politician, the more thuggish he is, the more powerful he is seen as & the followers too feel powerful with him. 'Apna neta aisa hai'. Psychological effect. It has several benefits..
for the leader. As his image is that of a ruffian, short-tempered man or a don, not everybody would approach him to get works done or for overall betterment of constituency, improvement in services. No expectations. 'Raw power', the feel of it, is enough. That he represents us..
'We elected him...our MP or MLA is a strongman..' The strength gets into followers. Symbiotic relationship of a unique kind. Further, if he belongs to your own community, caste, naturally you feel more powerful as well as content & a feeling of pride. #Politics #India

The realm of #politics is to coordinate solutions beyond what decentralized actors and organizations can themselves achieve. This is done through the power of #thestate (coercion). Thus, the scope and use for politics as a means is strictly limited to where it is the better
solution for society and its constituents. This means the boundary of the proper use of politics and the state is identified by what can (and will) be coordinated through decentralized means. In other words, the boundary of politics is composed by our understanding for the
mechanisms behind spontaneous orders and their emergence. Chief among them is the price mechanism and economic calculation. In other words, the 'other side' of politics, which suggests where and to what extent the powers of the state should and can be used, is #economics and,

Word on the street is the #FederalReserve is having unheard of overnight lending activities meant to curb the rise of short term rates which are likely skyrocketing due to some big companies cash concerns. Hmm, let’s get some nice Fed conspiracies rolling wsj.com/amp/articles/n…
The #FederalReserve is a system of centralized banks that fund the #UnitedStates loans from their own “reserves” w/ US citizen land & labor used as collateral. Most of these banks are held secret and difficult to trace back to to the originating bank. globalresearch.ca/the-federal-re…
A quick look at history and you can see the banking system is a large network of oil barons like the #Rockefellers, #RoyalCrown and various vassal agents of #European banking families like the #Rothschilds. These banks are used to control the economy completely protected.

"Voting privilege and 'less-popular' parties" - A Thread on #politics

If 'less popular' parties such as Lib Dem, Plaid, Green are super serious about winning election seats, why are they not constantly campaigning collaboratively for change to the UK voting system?
At the moment in some areas they are literally just encouraging people to waste their vote. Cardiff North is a good example as there is no chance of Plaid / Lib Dem winning under the current system, but they are still standing candidates there.
Doing this, and campaigning for people to vote for them, says to me that: "We don't actually care about implementing our policies, we just care about getting one more vote, regardless of who we might take that vote away from", and the impact of that on the Government.

Watching a lot of people flip out at @BrianNiemeier without understanding the issues involved.

Here's the skinny.

1. Brian is known for a controversial test when people act like pundits on what Christianity is or isn't. He asks them to publicly confess faith in Christ.
@BrianNiemeier 2. This is to see if they have skin in the game, because there have been, over the last few hundred years especially, a LOT of bad-faith attempts to redefine or redirect Christianity to serve someone's immediate political goals.
@BrianNiemeier 3. The controversy: the term he uses when he informs someone that he has no desire to continue discussing his faith with someone who comes in bad faith is "witch."

Outside of rural Africa or Indonesia, where you can still be killed for it, "witch" is not really pejorative now.

Correction to the original tweet, #DickCook started #DickCookStudios w #China and worked with #LegendaryPictures in 2011 after #Disney.

How do we find #peace in the midst of political strife, impeachment, coup attempt or whatever?
External events, especially those seeking outcomes that either attract or repel us, can trigger fears and desires that steal our #peace and lead us into conflict.
Political conflict results from a fear of an unknown future, and belief that fighting can allow us to control the outcome - which in reality is, for most, beyond influence or control.

Smart. By working outside of a coalition he can use the different parties to pass the different parts of his agenda. If he wants to do climate action he can work with NDP/Greens/Bloc. If he wants to build pipelines the CPC should be willing to help. /1
If he wants to provide federal funding for $7/day daycare maybe he'll get some Bloc and NDP support.

That being said, I think it's highly unlikely the parties that SHOULD support his policies will because #Politics. But avoiding a coalition does give him more freedom /2
to push the legislation that the center-right Liberal Party of Canada believes in.

Because of the size of his minority, he will be able to pass legislation with ANY one of the 2nd-4th place parties so long as he keeps his caucus together. This differs from past minority /3

Best Description of @realDonaldTrump I’ve Read

Someone on Quora asked “Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:

A few things spring to mind.

Trump lacks certain qualities
2/
which the British traditionally esteem.

For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with
3/
which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.

So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.

Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly
