- Thread: Why should you join over 4000 people who believe #Israel may be committing #genocide against the indigenous #Palestinian people?
israelgenocide.com/take-action/
- In the past two years, Israel has executed over 400 Palestinians in the streets of the West Bank. A fourth of them children, the majority of them youth. Tens of thousands have been injured.
- There are currently over 6000 Palestinian prisoners in Israel's prisons. It is estimated that in the past two years over 14,000 Palestinians have been imprisoned (that's 20 new prisoners every day on average).
- The average number of Palestinian child prisoners in Israel's prisons is between 250-350 at any given time, while the number of prisoners interned without charge, trial, or release date, is currently approximately 450.
- All Palestinian prisoners- children, women, the sick, and elderly included- in Israel's prisons are subject to systemic ill-treatment, arbitrary fines, medical neglect, beatings, and torture.
- House demolitions have doubled in 2016, leaving over a thousand people homeless, over half of them children. Meanwhile Israel has green-lighted thousands more settler housing projects, quadrupling the number since 2016. The highest rate of settlement construction since 2004.
- There are almost half a million Israelis colonizing about 70% of the West Bank (about a half of them are new immigrants with foreign nationality,a 6th of all settlers have American nationality), while 3 million indigenous Palestinians are under Israel's tight military control.
- Gaza is under it's 11th year of debilitating siege, subject to Israel's routine military attacks; from firing at agricultural workers from both land and sea, to periodical bombings, and the constant overhead buzzing of drones.
- In Gaza, two million people- over 50% of them children- crammed into less than 365 square kilometres, with power outages of up to several days at a time in some areas.
- In Gaza 97% of the water is undrinkable, civilian infrastructure is devastated; including hospitals, schools, places of worship, businesses, and institutions.
- As of April 2017 Gaza hospitals are running on emergency generators and are out of stock of life saving medicines. Two hospitals have shut down last week, and five more medical facilities are on the brink of suspending operations, do to lack of fuel.
- Over 40% of the Gaza population are unemployed, which is the highest rate of unemployment in the world, while children drop out of school to assist with family income. That said, 60% of youth are unemployed (17 being the average age in the strip).
- Over 80% of the population rely on humanitarian aid to cover their very basic needs; including food (which in June 2017, the @UN reported it significantly decreased for lack of funds), basic education, basic healthcare, shelter, blankets, mattresses, and cooking stoves.
- The United Nations has admitted in July 2017 that despite its public predictions that Gaza will be 'unliveable' (meaning that there will effectively not be enough resources for people to survive) by 2020, it has in fact been unliveable for years.
- The only thing sustaining #Gaza is massive donation funds, however the #USA has cut off half of @UNRWA's funding, which amounts to $65 million, in January of this year.
- Israel's restrictions on movement trap the population of Gaza inside this unliveable area, without recourse to search for better living conditions than it is providing, while Israel deploys military attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure on a daily basis.
- There are over 1.7 million Palestinians within Israel. Massive displacement of whole communities is fast becoming a legal norm;
- while the individual-based separation of Palestinian families remains the fundamental method of displacement, along with a decades-long, racial/national-based processes of systematic, impoverishment, de-development, gentrification, and ghettoisation.
- Israel continues to pass new discriminative laws at a dizzying pace, and restructure the over-60 existing ones. Persecution of Palestinian political parties, parliamentarians, public servants, and human rights defenders escalates;
- while Israeli-Jewish politicians and public figures continue their unabated incitement to genocide against the indigenous Palestinian minority, with brutal results often meted out by Israeli civilians as well as armed forces.
- We urge one and all to consider the crime of Genocide, as defined in a declaration made by the General Assembly of the United Nations in its resolution 96 (I) dated 11 December 1946 in regards to Israel's actions against the indigenous Palestinian people:
- Please go to the top of the thread and send an email to the relevant offices, right now. Let's stop genocide.
