We have counted over 100 people killed or injured by alleged perpetrators influenced by the so-called alt-right — a movement that continues to access the mainstream and reach young recruits.
The violence that left one dead at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, last summer should not be understood as the high-water mark for the movement. splcenter.org/news/2017/08/1…
The alt-right worldview, this rebranding of old hatreds, will remain compelling to disaffected white males. This is clear in a @nytimes documentary released today focusing on white nationalist Eli Mosley. nytimes.com/video/us/10000…
Worse, as this study suggests, punctuated violence will continue. The same vision of society that the alt-right promulgates also aligns with the indicators of mass violence.

In January, 17 Florida counties signed Basic Ordering Agreements, which compensate local sheriffs for their collaboration with ICE. Our lawsuit is the first to challenge a Florida sheriff for unlawfully detaining people at ICE’s request as part of a BOA. splcenter.org/news/2018/12/0…

June 22—The Maiduguri Mosque Bombing. Two young female suicide bombers had strapped bombs to kill at least 30 worshippers at the start of Ramadan.
July 1-2—Boko Haram launched coordinated attacks on multiple mosques. 48 men were killed on the first day of the attacks. On the second day, 97 others, men mostly, were killed. Untold numbers were wounded.

July 5—A suicide bomber attacked a church in Potiskum, Yobe State.

1) For some reason, folks on the right have extremely short memories when it comes to acts of right-wing political violence. This is especially the case when they are in the middle of a propaganda campaign to make "the left" look violent. A long thread with lots of pix follows.
2) Now, what many of them are actually talking about is street violence specifically. But of course, that means they're completely oblivious to their own behavior in that regard.
3) However, when it comes to a propensity for actual political violence directed at their opponents – or at victims they have targeted for various reasons – there really is a huge difference.

Me: Peterson is trying to smear anti-fascism by promoting a sock puppet account as being authentic, when in fact it was solely set up to smear anti-fascism.

Reason? Confirmation bias, ideological alignment = no source analysis.
There are hundreds of these fake “antifa” troll accounts out there. This was covered in some detail by the msm last summer. They are ran by white nationalists/4chan propagandists, &c.
This propaganda aims to sow outrage and harden the hostile views of individuals who already view anti-fascism as a problem or their enemy. The goal is to increase polarization.
