lesser punishment. Prosecutors typically do not charge a defendant with their worst crimes initially because if they did that, the Defendant would not be motivated to “flip” – to tell what they know about bigger crime and other people involved in them. In litigation, as in poker
you have to strategically play each card carefully. And Mueller is a Master Player. Trump has made a lot of noise about the charges levied against Flynn, Manafort and Gates, asserting the lesser charges to which they pleaded guilty prove (a) there were are no bigger crimes
committed by them and (b) there are no crimes committed by him. Apparently, Trump never played Texas Hold’em.

strong player) , you often slow play them—luring them into the pot with each round of betting. Trump is a whale. Each turn of the community cards in this game (flipping Flynn, Manafort and Gates), have improved Mueller’s hand.
Mueller plays this game perfectly. To continue this analogy to its inevitable end: Trump is now “all in” with three of a kind, but Mueller has ACES in the hole.
