LISTEN: this is exactly the WRONG time for progressives to "play it safe" on our values when campaigning. Do not play for the middle. That is weak, and it is bullshit. Articulate what it would mean for families in a truly progressive society. Call out the GOP on its nonsense.
When moderates see Democratic candidates half-heartedly and blindly pander to the middle, they're turned off. When progressives see it, they're turned off. And when conservatives see it, they sense victory.

The idea that we are going to win seats by presenting ourselves as "Nice Moderates" is a terrible, foul misreading of the national environment. Voters already have a party of pandering cynics. They're called Republicans. Don't play that game.
